My roof is leaking!

We got a hell of a lot of rain last night, and the flat part of my roof apparently decided it couldn't take it anymore. I now have a couple of nice puddles in my storage room, and I'm gonna have to get up there and try to reseal it...fun for me.

One of the many joys of old houses...

Did you have a lot of snow over the winter? Heavy snow loads wreaks havoc on older roofs. That and ice rips up a roof pretty good.

I grew up in an old house and that rooof drove my dad crazy.

Nope, not much snow...I suspect that the tar or whatever was used up there has cracked and needs to be recovered. I dunno.

Gotta love google...I did a search for how to seal a flat roof, and it says:

Did you mean to search for: how to steal a flat roof

No, no I did not. Thanks tho.

Well, I found at least part of the problem...a clogged downspout, so there was about 3" of water just sitting on top of a wooden gutter that used to be sealed with tar and paper, I'm guessing. I cleared the clog, and it's draining now, but I'm not sure how to fix the gutter. I can re-seal it, but I don't know if it needs to be angled somehow for drainage.

Lotta damaged wood up there too...
