Low T- again - looking for experienced words or whatever

This has been a good forum to read as there isn't any judgement and lots of knowledge. I posted a while back about low libido. Things changed after I had a vasectomy - very low drive, desire, weak orgasms, less sensitive. I'm wishing that I could go back and not have done that but I can't. I'm over 40 in decent shape. Now I know your T is supposed to decline as you age but this was like walking through a door, one minute I'm fine, after the procedure I was like, WTF?! This was 2 years ago and have been battling this entire time thinking it was in my head or just hoping it would fix itself.

So I finally go to the doc. I get all the usual things like are you stressed, you're over 40 blah, blah. I'm like no, you don't understand, if this was gradual, then yes, but no, it was like instant. They look at me like I'm bullshitting them or I'm crazy. Suggests bloodwork, Urologist and then maybe an anti-depressant. I see a Urologist, cause that's just where they sent me, it's a woman. She tells me it's all in my head pretty much. I'm like no, I know what I was like before and I know what I'm like now. Shit is different. She just wants to prescribe Viagra or something. I don't want that.

Anyway, they are doing blood work and I go back next week to find out if my T is low. It's really my only explanation. I'm really hoping that's it and I can at least have an answer. I can't tell you how frustrating it's been.

There was another person here that had the same sort of experience after getting snipped. I'm wondering if there is anyone else?

A vasectomy should not effect testosterone levels. During a vasectomy, the vas defers from each testicle is cut. This prevents sperm from mixing with semen that is ejaculated from the penis. Your testicles are still fully functional and produce sperm and testosterone.

You could very well have low testosterone, but it isn't from the vasectomy. You need to get blood work done to know for sure. It is most likely low testosterone but you could also have low thyroid hormones or high estrogen/prolactin levels. The only way to know for sure what is going on is through blood work. You can't rely on symptoms because they effect each person differently.

Post up your blood work results once you get them.

Yeah, that's what they say and that's everything I read and everything that I was told. But let me tell you, there is a risk involved, and it's not in my head. It's like I went from 100mph sex drive to 5mph, someone slammed on the brakes. I questioned myself for a long time. Then I started looking deeper into it and found that there are more men who are having issues after the procedure. While it may keep you from having babies, it will not 100% keep you the same sexually. I should get the results of my bloodwork next week. I am really hoping that my T is low, cause for now, that is the only explanation that I can think of.

The difference between doctors and reality is that they rely too much on books and tests.

for me getting snipped is a psychological thing. not only do you know you were snipped but other women do as well. I'm telling you that you can't reverse millions of years of evolution. women can sense a guy on steroids the same way they can sense a guy who is snipped. look at dogs.. male dogs that are snipped get less pussy than ones that aren't, that is just a fact

Without blood work we will only be making assumptions here, and it is never a good idea to make assumptions when you are dealing with someone's health. Therefore, it would be most reasonable to do blood work, and see from there what should be done.

I got snipped 4 years ago and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. There should be no effect from this procedure. It is such a simple and advanced procedure that it is very non invasive. I suggest you may have low T and the vasectomy just enhanced the way you feel about the effects. I wish I had a better answer but the blood work will tell the story.

I got bloodwork back but it was only for Testosterone and nothing else. Numbers were 541 for total and 68.8 for free. This all falls within normal range. I go to a urologist tomorrow and then an endocrinologist after that for more in depth blood work.

I was happy I got snipped until after I started having these weird symptoms. It made zero sense to me and for a while I thought it was all in my head. The week before I was normal, then after the procedure I was like "WTF?!" I don't know but it's very, very frustrating. I know I'm not the only one either who has experienced these after effects of getting snipped. It's happened to other men as well.

Second visit with another doc. Doc saying that getting more in depth bloodwork would probably reveal nothing since my test levels are normal. He says that the only reason they would suggest looking at LH, Prolactin etc. was if my test was low? He's suggesting that maybe I try a test cream just to try and then suggested a book on adjusting my diet. I'm not convinced. I think I need in depth bloodwork because this is just all too weird.

a test cream would suppress you. not a good idea.

your numbers are fine. this is 100% psychological on your part, the more you obsess over it, the worse it will get.

this is a crazy suggestion but why don't you go reverse the procedure if it's making you this crazy

Not psychological, but I understand why you would think that. I've been doing a lot of research on it and I know I'm not alone, it's more common than you would think. I could care less about the vasectomy and I don't want to get it reversed. What I do know is that before the procedure I was fine sexually. After the procedure, I've been wondering WTF happened. I'm going to get some full blood work done up and see if it reveals anything more. If that comes back normal then I'll have to keep looking around or just live with whatever this is going on. I don't know.
