I have the NY barbells super power rack. I squat a bit wider than the rack allows.. so on a boring afternoon i decided to fix it

In the future im gonna add some rubber mats to it.
 
I like the way you framed it to cover a larger surface.

The problem we've run into is that in the interest of easier construction, as well as removal from the rack, that unracking the bar from the J hooks when squatting inside the rack is a challenge.

It's essentially the same idea as yours, with 3 boxes and plywood on the top. You put in a lot more braces, which is probably good, but I didn't think we really needed it.

Ours worked out to be about 2' x 6', and in this pic we've got a deadlift platform butted up against it, with our squat boxes resting across both.

How tough is yours to get in and out of the rack?
