When it's almost like there's an engine inside of you driving you, because you're delerious from the effort of the exercise, but somehow your legs carry you to the next spot, you sit down, and you start your next set, and while you're doing it it's almost like a robot? And when you finish your set it's like you snap back into reality for a second, and your heart is beating, and you're short of breath, and all you want to do is lie down? You lean on something, head hanging down between your shoulders, and somehow before you're quite ready, again your legs carry you to your next set, you set up, and grind out another set?
I set a PR today of reps on the leg press, and on the last set even did one more rep (18,18,19x405). It was incredible. I kept thinking at rep 12, 15, that I was about to die and somehow I got to 18 every single time. It felt good.
You feel sick, clammy between sets, yet somehow you force yourself through, and by the end of the workout you're practically ready for more. You stretch and take your time cooling down, then take a long, luxurious shower, satisfied that you gave it your all. You went in with a goal and accomplished it. This is what makes it all worthwhile.
