You Ever have those training days. . .

where you can't get things rolling?

I have had 3 days worth of rest prior to tonights workout. It was supposed to be my heavy squat day. I started out with some bicep and forearm work, which felt fine.

I moved on to squats. . and the first few warmup sets felt heavier than normal. I get to 405lbs and it felt horrible!! My buddy was pestering me to work up to 500lbs, but that wasn't happening tonight:D!! Overall, it was hard to get the rythym. As we all know you can't afford to have bad rythym on a heavy squat workout.

Next to good mornings. . I was supposed to work up to a really heavy weight. Again, I couldn't get the feel or the rythym so I settled for 3 sets of 10 reps @ 275lbs (feet close together).

I performed 2 sets of leg presses and it felt like I was pushing a truck. . . but I got the job done.

By the time I reached calves, I was unmotivated, but I still managed to pump out a couple of sets.

Even though I couldn't get the normal feeling in almost every exercise, I was still able to push through and get a great workout.

Anyone else have training sessions where you stuggle? I was supposed to train really heavy, but instead I was forced to listen to my body.

Give me your stories and thoughts.

I forgot to mention that I ate really well throughout the day and had plenty of rest.

A cold front is passing through the state, so maybe this has an affect.

it happens

one week i hit 270 for 3 reps on flat bench press. the next week, i couldn't hit 240 for 2 and all my other lifts were down. i just did some light rotator cuff work and called it a night

if i can't go heavy, i might as well go home.

wait...i lift at home. lol

thought i was having one last nite

squats were rough early on, started to get fired up and eventually hit 307 for 12. i have trained every day this week so i was tired, but i felt i needed to hit that dozen reps, all below paralell and it felt good. not a pr, but decent for me.

swain you crazy bastard thats alot of weight to be throwing around on a "bad day"

275 3x10 on gms in quite sick my man

Definetely louden. It is funny but I noticed when you go to the gym all psyched up to do heavy weights, you are often faced with a dissapointment. But if you treat it as just a regular training day, you surprise yourself with some PR's. Everyone has bad days, what matters is how you recover from it.

the benefits of swaining and rest.

I remember last year I had a 3 week layoff from the gym because I was in New Mexico for field studies (this was prior to when I became a member here at EF). I was without food for nearly 21 days.

When I returned home. . I was literally getting owned by 295lbs on the squat. . .oh well, I made a comeback and I became a member of EF.

Most of my workouts I am really pleased. . I guess the body doesn't like to go 110 percent each training session. . even though I would like it to.

Like I sad, I had a reasonable workout. . legs are like jello.

Hey man, i had that exact kind of training day today. It sucks, but next week i'm coming back twice as hard. I get so frustrated though it kinda ruins the rest of my workout. Oh well, gotta keep our heads up and understand every dog has their day(and bad day).

That's so true. I love it when you think you're not going to break any records, then do 2 more reps than you expected. Weird how that works.

Sometimes if I make a good pr, the next time I workout I seem to regress.

Well said rev!!:)

Don't swain it, sweat ... er ... don't sweat it, swain. :) We all have our bad days. I was totally unmotivated to work calves Wednesday.

Remember that deadlift PR I was all psyched up for? Yeah, remember what a fiasco that turned out to be?

But I came back the next workout and gave myself a nice PR.

Next time, you'll probably be squatting small automobiles. :D

thanks for the encouragement.

I can sympathize. We all have days like that. You just have to put it behind you and focus on your next heavy day.

Next time brutha. Too bad we can't always control our bodies the way we want them to. I think its a message to you to eat a little more and think about something else entirely for a brief moment.....................

there was your moment. now go do your fucking squats and report back here with a vomit story. :)

It's been so long since I've done any real training that I can't remember what those days feel like. However, I will start training again on Sunday! It's time to start swaining!
