It's not one man who runs the country either. It's him and his administration, which can and should be blamed, at least partly for the economy. They are increasing the deficit with an openly lack of regard. Cheney openly admits the deficit doesn't matter. This is their fault.

we ran much larger deficits as a precentage of GDP during the mid-80s during the Reagan military build-up. Eventually we "absorbed" these deficits and the size of the deifict stabilized again. In the past we have run rather large deficits,and then we get back to base-line. At the moment we are fightin' a war(whether u feel this war is worthwhile is another topic) and are recovering from the economic shocks of 9/11. Bush and Co. felt it would help to get the economy rollin' again by giving a tax cut,which in effect puts more money back in the hands of the people,which in turn is better spent by those people and this spurs the economy. People buy shit better than the govt does. In the short term though we will run a deficit larger than typical,but the economy will benefit. which it has as one can see by the recent turnaround

I don't know why people think Kerry is some pussy. Bush skipped the war, Kerry didn't. Why do people think he won't "stand up" to the bad guys as much as Bush. "Bumping Heads" with terrorists and enemies is just going to get more people killed. Do you feel safer today with Bush in Office than you did with Clinton? I sure as hell don't. Do you feel we have taken steps forward since Bush took office? Nope.

Kerry initially tried for a deferment himself. He wanted to continue his studies in Paris. When his deferment was denied,he volunteered for the Navy,ostensibly to avoid being drafted into the Army. By his own admission too,he opted for service on the swift boats because at the time they were engaged in light coastal patrol duites and generally out of the combat zones.
Kerry wasn't some gung-ho patriotic John Wayne.
Personally,I can't say I blame either of them for attempting/choosing the options that they did.
It was a shitty war,er conflict.
