Yogurt

Most of the yogurt you find in grocery stores are crap, loaded w/sugar and/or fat. My question is can you find good lowfat milk/plain yogurt in a safeway or giant? If not, where would you go to buy low sugar yogurt? Thanks guys

I'm pretty sure you would be able to get this brand in America. It is low in lactose so it is easy on your stomach if you are not used to eating yoghurt.

Astro® BioBest® Lactose Reduced

Plain (125 g serving)

Calories 74
Protein 6 g
Fat 1.5 g
Saturated Fat 1 g
Carbs 9 g
Sugars 0

The sugar content of any yogurt or yoghurt will go up when you purchase the ones with fruit mixes. Stick to the plain varieties.

even plain non-fat yogurt contains sugars, but nat. sugars. As long as it says plain non-fat and there are no added sugars in the ing. list then you are fine.

If you're shopping at giant, look for dannon's non-fat plain yogurt. You can find it in the big 32oz containers.

I use plain non-fat yogurt in place of sour cream in a lot of recipes.

Hey Kian, what about the UK? I was using the Benecal/Flora Pro Active/ no fat, cholesterol reducing ones and then discovered they were 19 grams of sugar per serving!!!!!!!
You know of any added sugar free ones?
Cheers
Ed

You can also try Fage Total 0% greek yogurt - available at Trader Joes. It's got about 14g of protein per container and about 6-8g of sugars, but the natural kind.

For some reason, I don't think TJ's sells the Greek Yogurt anymore......haven't seen it in mine in a while......

Try Sainsbury's and Tesco for these two.
I'm not sure of the sugar content of the Yeo brand.

Rachel's Organic Fat Free Natural Yogurt

They still have it at my TJ's...I'm in PA.

I'm going to TJ's tomorrow so I'll have to look again....they must be hiding it from me.....

Atkin's Carb Countdown is my fave. 1 cup is ~
80cals
1.5g fat
1sat.
3 of 4 carbs depending on flavor
0-1g sugar (depending)
12g protein
190 sod.
Mix w/Cottage cheese, berries,Fiber One and cinnamon. It's my treat! Oh yeah can't forget sf maple syrup and almonds!

even Dannon's flavored (vanilla and strawberry) does not have that high sugar content

I find it goes down 10x easier than your regular plain yoghurt, which is damn sour

Also try kefir, you can find that in health food stores, insane protein to carb ratio, very low sugar and goes down smooth
