Yogurt

New member
For my first meal I'm eating a cup of Rolled oats mixed with water and what do you guys think about eating light yogurt too. 100 Calories, 0 fats, 85mg of sodium, 250 mg potassium, 19g carbs, 14g sugars and 5g proteins. Along with 20% of calcium and other vitamins such as A, D, phosphorus, riboflavin and magnesium.

Better choices for carbs than 14 grams of sugar, that's for sure.

Even cottage cheese would be a better choice.

I'll eat yogurt 3 times a day, the version with 90 calories, no fat, etc...pretty much the same thign you mentioned...
Its very good for you, it will help you lose weight. Not for any content reasons but simply...if you are hungry, want something to eat and do not have yogurt...what will you eat? Maybe a snack...with more cals. and fat...well have yogurt and you'll avoid that...
Of couse all of you probably knew this.

See, this is what we need to get rid of. Information that is completely off the mark. Yogurt is usually one of two things. LOADED with simple sugars, or outragiously high in fat.........use cottage cheese as SC suggested....good source of calcium and protein........very little sugar/fat.

i love yogurt, hard to find any with protein though, as i steer clear of yogurt with chicken bits floating in it... :D

sc, Jkurz1,

I've checked several different sites and have found a gi for artifically sweetened, non-fat yogurt of 14. Since it has a lower gi than rice wouldnt this be a good source of clean carbs?

No........it's not a CLEAN carb...........it's very high in sugar..........learn to make the CC switchm trust me.........

This is confusing to me. Artifically sweetened yogurt has no sugar. It is my understanding that this type of yogurt has a very low gi, lower than most clean carbs such as rice, oatmeal, etc. Similar to fruit in that although the "sugar" content is high, your body does not process it like a typical high gi food like candy.

BTW CC is fine, I'm just trying to understand what I've been reading.

So, jdw152 provides a reasoned response stating an artificially sweetened, nonfat yogurt has a GI of 14 and your response is "it's high in sugar." Do you understand what "artifically sweetened" means." You need to back up your opinion with more than a "trust me." lol

So its bad to eat yogurt?

Some yogurt is bad such as those sweetened with sugar and high in fat since most of fat is saturated. But I dont see the reasoning behind no sugar, non fat yogurt being bad.

I was hoping Jkurz1 or sc would explain their reasoning rather than just making the blanket statement that yogurt is bad or "you can find better carbs".

I missed the artificial sweetner part.......why don't you offer some advice instead of bashing everyone, twigs.......

LOL! You call me twigs? Did you forget what your claimed stats were? You said yesterday that you were 6'2" 188 @7% while I'm 5'10 172. So you're 4" taller and only 16lbs heavier (and with higher BF %). You're really not too bright are you? lol And I'm still waiting on those pics. ;)

PS I dont have time to offer advice. It's a full time job just correcting your mistatements. lol I will add that nonfat, artificially sweetened yogurt is an excellent addition to ones diet.

Thanks for correcting my mistakes, twigs.,..............totally honest, If I looked anywhere close to your pic, I swear to God I'd lie and say I have no pics.....honestly..........

You already said you had no pics. lol Try to keep up with your lies please - I'm already too busy correcting your mistakes. I noticed the moderator poll isn't going well. Do you think maybe people have figured out the extent of your ineptitude. lol

PM me.....no need to explain............

I am confused.....other than trying to tear up obviously meaningless mistakes and slightly different wording. What do you really have to rag on Jkurz about? With that many posts....and so much "wonderful" advice that you have tossed out, I am sure you are in amazing shape indeed. Try droppin some more info there, it would be nice to see if you are so great at this. Hell, I am a twig too....but I accept it :)

Do you two kids have a little "thing" going on that I should know about - if so, then I'd really prefer not to see pics. lol

JS - thanks man, but let's not go there.......let twigs do his own thing.....it's cool.........

Just to let you know - I posted a simple request for an egg separating device and JKurz, out of no where, starts attacking me. Then he follows it up with negative karma and a nice little FUCK YOU! statement. Not very helpful was he?

I dont get the name calling. NJRipped isnt huge, but then it doesnt sound like that's his goal. Why people reduce themselves to name calling because others dont agree with them is beyond me.

All of this started a couple of weeks ago.

It's obvious we have different goals in mind, that's cool.

It's some of the comments that have been a little ridiculuous. I dont have a pic in my avator, but since i weight 250lbs i must be a "fat ass." However, that isnt the case at all. I am actually one big mother fucker who can handle a hell of a lot of weight. I just have to dedicate myself to doing more cardio and cleaning my diet up a little more to shed a few extra pounds. However, that is EXTREMELY difficult because i still want to increase all of my numbers.

I have absolutely no problem with that at all and i think it is probably best for all. However, i dont care for the cheap/rude comments, but i can handle them and WILL respond to them. On the other hand, a difference of opinion is great, it causes everyone to think things through or from a different perspective.

You fatties kill me. What are you 5'10" 250lbs. Maybe I should just add an extra 80lbs or so of goo & call myself a bodybuilder. lol Have you ever wondered why fat guys like yourself don't post pics? Because it isn't a pretty sight. :) Let me guess, you are in a "bulk" stage. lol

Never have and never will be in a "bulk" stage.

I take being a "fatty" while you will always be known as "twigs."

Like i said though this "fatty" destroys the weights and everyone watches me train in the gym. I suspect they watch you do a set and get up and check out your six pack in the mirror. If you dont...you are a bigger man than i thought.

If you want i will pm you all of my numbers or you can look on walkingbeasts workout on the training forum.

Ok, I'm done with this thread. I leave it to the goo roos (Cwick makes his entrance). lol

The last 15 or so posts i have read havent been about diet at all. Plus i never have and never tried to be a diet Guru. How many times do i have to state that you probably know more about diet than i do, while i suspect i know more about buildings/adding mass.

This is what I mean. Cwick0 has different goals than you, simple as that. Time to grow up.

i had a question about yogurt too. but the only yogurt i eat is that which we make ourselves. it's made from goat's milk, combined with half a teaspoon of "starter" (concentrated yogurt). we let it set for some time, at least over night. i read on another thread that such yogurt is perhaps ok, even for those looking to lose fat (i.e., doesn't have much sugar). the fat content is another issue. i have a small bowl of it (approximately a cup) several times a week, but might bring it up to once a day. i hope this isn't detrimental to cutting, because my diet is very restricted, and i don't want to incorporate any other alternatives unless necessary.

any opinions?

I have consumed 21 oz of yogurt everday for the last two years and have no problems reaching extremely low bodyfat levels using it. Since you're making it yourself, you could use aspartame. How do you make it yourself? Do you have a recipe?

all we do is put some goat's milk in a bowl, heat it for 20-30 seconds in the microwave, add a small amount of yogurt starter, mix it up, and then let it sit covered and exposed to some slight heat (we use a heating pad on low/med) over night. the bacteria does the rest.

Ditch the yogurt. Opt for cottage cheese, egg whites, or protein powder.

Any reasoning behind this blanket statement. The benefits to yogurt are not necessarily limited to the type of protein it contains.

im not siding with anyone on this rediculous bashing session. We are all here to help each other learn about proper diet and how to build our best body. NJripped, I think you look damn good man. I would put money on the fact that he looks better than 90% or more of the members at Elite Fitness.
