yet another un post

Colombia ratified the ICC a week ago, bringing the ratifications up to 77. I am tired of arguing the ICC so i will leave it at that, my post is about our international reputation.

The Saudis were proven to be linked to terrorists according to an independent government report, but we apologized to them.

The ICC is designed to prosecute large scale crimes against humanity. In response to the ICC, we have passes the ASPA which gives us the right to forcefully invade the Netherlands in case of an american getting captured, we have taken peacekeeping missions hostage at the U.N., and bullied our allies, and now

Does anyone else think that this isn't the best idea? if the bush legacy doesn't want to be part of the ICC, i can respect that. However, bullying our powerful allies (the E.U.) over a potential prosecution by a court designed to prosecute human rights abuses, then turning around and kissing the ass of some shitty 3rd world country (Saudi arabia) that is proven to support terrorism may not be good international diplomacy.

Before this bastardizes into some ICC post, this isn't about the ICC. this is about standing by countries like Saudi Arabia (terrorism supporter) and Israel (arguably the major cause of terrorism in america) while bullying countries like Germany, England and the Netherlands. What is the motivation for this type of thing.

I don't think we 'Bully" countries like England, Germany and the Netherlands. I don't think we can. I do agree that we to often kiss ass to countrys like Saudi Arabia in the name of political expediancy. Our state department does not beleive in loyalty or sticking by our allies.

i have to agree with nordstrom and i aslo agree with you too ROLGOR.

read: "perpetual war for perpetual peace" and you will see some light shed on this very subject and see why we are so hated around the world.

what i mean is that, we seem to be more abusive and condescending to the netherlands and germany than we are to Saudi Arabia. And i see no logic behind this.

We passed the ASPA law, which gives america the right to invade/attack the Netherlands if the capture an american under the ICC. However, when Saudi Arabia is proven to support terrorism we do nothing. Why would we threaten the netherlands with war for hurting us but apologize to Saudi Arabia for doing the same thing?

The E.U. is militarily & economically as strong as we are. Why would we treat them worse than a handful of shitty 3rd world countries.

our priorities are messed up. saudis have oil, the netherlands have well i really don't know. dutch chocolate?

i understand what you're saying and i have to agree.

right now, the euro is worth more than the u.s. dollar so their economy is doing better than ours. with germany and england in the E.U. they are very strong military wise. germany has the largest army in the E.U. and england has one of the world's most sophisticated armies(technologically) in the world.

why should other countries respect us when we tell them in the simplest way we do as we please, try and stop us?

To add to your Saudi facts, the abuses of their women are well known, but you have yet to hear ANY administration official speak out about them, yet they sent Laura bush to talk about the plight of the Afghan women. Failing to note that the fundamentalistic approach of the Saudi's suppressing the women's rights is on a worse level than the afghans.

It's nothing but straightup ass-kissing by bush, and whoever is in washington.

However, why do we kiss saudi ass but turn around and bully the E.U.?

I mean, if i had to choose between saudi arabia or the E.U. as an ally, i'd choose the E.U.

The ASPA (american servicemans protection act) allows america to commit an act of war on the netherlands if they capture one of our people and imprison them against their will.

I saw on the O'Reilly Factor a few weeks ago that there are 100's of american women trapped in Saudi arabia, as there you need a mans permission to leave the country (and their husbands/brothers/etc don't want them to leave).

Why would we threaten war on the Netherlands for stuff we allow the Saudis to do?

I await a stupid, subject-shifting comment from some right-winger

Start a new Saudi thread nordstrom, I'm there. Watch the lame ass justification about the oil from right wingers.
