XP Help

Alright, just got a new Vaio. Anyway, I loaded all the usual necessary shit on my computer that every serious adult must have: Half-Life, Kazaa, etc.

When the computer starts up now it is slower than normal. On my old W98 comp, I corrected this by making it so that a bunch of tasks did not automatically start upon startup. Is there a way to do this is with XP? That whole tray near the clock is full of useless shit thats running, and it is obviously very tedious to go through and manually turn them off every time I start the computer.

Help is appreciated.:)

Welcome to the world of Microshaft's latest Bloated OS..

Most of those things are loaded default by the boot..
Best you can do is go to processes and right click setting the priority of the ones you want to low..

Go to Run on the start menu and type MSCONFIG then go to start up. Uncheck all the stuff you don't need starting up. Be careful because a couple of start up items are criticial for the system to work.

Hence my priority sugg..

Also check whats in the startup folder in each user profile under
document and settings

take the app shortcut out of the folder and it wont start at start

sometimes if you do share in kazaa it slows down your computer alot so if you disable sharing everything should run faster

Thank you guys, like a breath of fresh air.
