NFL fever.. is it that good? i played it 2 times on the demo at best buy and its fuckin awesome... ps2 doesnt even compare... not even close! but is this THE game??? i mean, will basketball and hockey be this good?

what are your thoughts on the xbox so far? do you have ps 2 as well? compare.

NFL Fever is fucking awesome.

Make sure you do the training camp thingy before you plan on kicking ass in the veteran mode.
Shitloads of plays to run....... Play action, HB passes, flea flicker, I am seriously waiting for the Statue of Liberty play to pop up one of these times.

My son rented the basketball game and it was just as good........graphics and shit are life like.

Amped (snowboarding) is pretty cool too......I am not into it nearly as much as he is tho.

I have yet to play any of the shooting stuff or gory movies

NFL Fever is amazing. PS2 is ok but man do i regret buying it after renting xbox this weekend. It's the little things that make this game great. Stiff-arming in different directions not just at the players head, if he comes at you low you can stiff arm down. When rushing up the middle you can cover up the ball with two arms instead of just going at it full steam with 1 arm on the ball. Very realistic!

Anyone play both Fever and Madden? Which is better?

Can you do the same things in Fever- create players, teams, start a franchise, etc?

Thanks,
PS

Bump for more replies.

I'm interested in hearing from people who own both systems and have played similar titles too.

I own the PS2 and Madden 2002. After playing Madden on Xbox, I'd go with the PS2 version. It's the same game. The graphics are slightly better on the Xbox (3D crowd). The controls blow on the Xbox though. The black and white buttons are in horrible positions compared to the playstations L2 and R2 buttons. I don't like the Xbox's controller compared to the ps1/2's controllers in general. It isn't as comfortable in my hands and the button layout is awkward.

Most of the good titles out there, or coming out, are cross-platform. The only 2 Xbox exclusive titles I see that are worth buying right now are Halo and Fever(maybe). I played Halo and it's a good game.

Fever does sound like a cool game, but I heard the passing game is seriously flawed. It's too easy to make completions and the amount of interceptions when playing D , are totally unrealistic.
That ruins it for more because I'd much rather play a more realistic sim. I read that the clouds moving overhead shadow's show up on the field while you're playing. That sounds like an awesome feature.

I was going to pick up an Xbox tomorrow, but now I'm thinking I'd be better off using that money to buy some more PS2 games.

IMO Fever beats the shit out of Madden.

Create players, start a "dynasty" not a franchise :D , sign free agents make trades....everything.....players even have salaries and shit attached to them.

Pass plays are pretty easy when you are in rookie mode, but if you go to veteran it's not nearly as easy......and if you are playing against someone they can break up the pass too.

Ya the little things like the clouds showing up on the field, in racing games the radio cutting out when you go under a bridge or through a tunnel, the reflections of other cars in your car, etc.... make the realism right up there.

That's another cool feature of NFL Fever I was reading about. They said the players have the auto salary like you stated, but they also said that the player's stats would change game to game depending on how he performs. So if you created a mediocre RB and played above his abiility during the year, at the end of the season he could turn into a stud. Or vise-versa if you played shitty with him. The only part I didn't like was the fact that they said his salary is automatically adjusted according to stats. From what I understood, this takes place game to game also and not just at the season's end or when re-signing him.

Halo is the coolest. I also like Amped snowboarding. But I am a hockey fan, I think EA sports NHL 2002 will be my favorite; I did not play yet but I LOVE each and every EA sports NHL games. Xbox is a lot better than the PS2; it has a hard disk; it means you can write some Cd's on it and listen to your favorite bands while you are playing just like in Amped. You don't absolutely need a memory card and the Xbox has the biggest potential for the years to come; they want to make it a multi-fonction console. The processor is extremely powerfull tool. I just hope the people will trust the box!! That is critical; it can be the best game available right now but if you guys are scared; it will fall down. In my opinion, Xbox is the greatest console ever. I even like the game cube better the PS2. The cube is kind of cool too. I tought it was shit but it's better than I tought!

game cube isnt even to be considered.. in order for that fucker to play dvd's you are gonna have to buy a dvd game cube system... what the fuck is that????? i mean, your original cube wont do it but an updated version will? for what? 200 more dollars? oooh goody.

latimer, you seem like an insane type of fan (like me) and i am sure you'd hate nfl2k2 on ps2... vincent has 5 picks in 2 games... and if you over commit an inch then the back goes for 80 yards.. faulk cant be tackled, williams bounces off you like a fuckin ping pong ball, its horrible... the worst part is the injuries... mcnabb who leads his team in rushing last year gets hurt and fumbles EVERY OTHER SCRAMBLE!!!

i havent played my madden in quite some time cuz of the receivers always drop the ball for me, but its easily better than nfl2k2, i am curious about nfl gameday (mcnabb on the cover is a plus)

nfl fever is worth the trip to best buy.. but i warn you if you play it you will decide to buy the system, i am itching for a paycheck so i can fucking blow it on the system.. all for ONE GAME.. i have metal gear solid for ps2 and i like it, its hard yet playable... but xbox would be for fever and fever only... it'll be like ps2.. 8 months before its worth it for other games.

yeah, I'm playing nfl2k2 on my dreamcast right now......and I've got to say it's a tad disappointing. The speed difference between you and the computer is inexcusable. I don't accept a defensive lineman running down Faulk or Dunn from behind while their at FULL SPRINT!!! Lot's of things in this game are VERY cheap. And all pro receivers WILL drop 80% of the passes, regardless if their WIDE OPEN!!.

I HAVE HALO, GOTHAM RACING, AND TONY HAWK 2X. I PRETTY MUCH PLAY HALO ALL THE TIME THOUGH. ITS THE SHIT. I'M NOT INTO ALL THE SPORTS GAMES TOO MUCH BUT I THINK I'M GONNA PICK UP NFL FEVER. IT LOOKED GOOD AT THE STORE.

I WOULD HAVE TO GO WITH THE XBOX FOR ANYONE CONSIDERING BOTH. MOST OF THE GAMES FOR PS2 ARE COMING OUT FOR XBOX.

Man, when you buy a console, you don't necessary buy for the DVD. Nintendo made a research and about 45% already have a DVD. They made that console without a DVD player for the people who already have a DVD player so they don't have to pay twice for it. It's cheaper that way. It's just another way to compete against the PS2 and the Xbox. By the way, the cube broke all records as for selling consoles in its first week! I was impressed by the game cube; it's not disappointing. But I still prefer the Xbox BIG TIME!

XBOX

Did anyone play EA sports NHL on Xbox? Tell me your comments. I am a hockey fan and always loved Ea sport's Nhl on every consoles but the Xbox 2002 version seems to be the shit!!! I want that game now!
