Has anybody had any technical problems with the 360? I've heard of people returning the system 2-3 times for repairs/replacement when it first launched. I've had mine for 4 months now and the games started freezing up recently and I'm afraid it's gonna be a $400 paperweight soon.

Most problems with the 360's turned out to be user error, such as not enough ventilation or sitting it on its side. We have had 2 360's since the release date and both are running just fine.

Make sure the games arent scratched and they are not halo 2 (Fails on the newest of boxes still at times). If it is the 360, it would be the laser being dirty or failing and that is a major pain. Hope all goes well.

Mine is at the tech center now because of screen freezing. No user error here, my xbox sits in a very open area and all the troubleshooting tips were followed, the system still wouldnt work.

Needless to say this is really screwing up my Gears Of War League ratings lol.

i have had the same system since day one and play halo 2 and not a single problem good luck wit ur systems guys

just had to buy a new one

I've had the system for over a year now and haven't experienced any system-related problems. Occasionally Rainbow 6 will freeze but I think it's game related.

LMFAO at this site renaming the greatest first person shooter ever into an anabolic steroid...........yeah, I just got done playing halo----testin......what a fucking joke!

When your xbox's finally break, you'll be singing a different tune trust me.

I got mine 1 month after launch (Dec 2005) and got the 3 rings of death last week (June 2007).

I am very dedicated to electronics so I know how to treat my gadgets.

Google "xbox360" and "failure" or "repair" and you find endless testimonies of people's 360 breaking.

It's not user error at all, it's hardware error plain and simple.

I use to persuade people to purchase xbox, but I will never again recommend such a shitty company producing a faulty system then doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to solve the problem.

They wanted to charge me $140 to "repair it". There are people on their 3rd, 4th, even 7th "repaired" console.

What a joke.

Oh and I went and bought an Elite 360 (the new black ones) thinking surely they would have solved the problem by now.

After 4 hours of gameplay it froze 3 times.

lmao. Brand spankin' new xbox and it freezes. So how is that user error?

Mine started freezing every 20 minutes or so.

It did this for 2 days of casual gaming.

Then the 3 red lights came on. At that point it's toast.

Good news is that you should still be under the 1 year warranty and will get it repaired free.

Be ready though, all they do is send you a refurbished system that will also fail after a few months.

You Bros have it all wrong. Purchase your system at Wal-Mart. When, not if, but when, it breaks, bring it back and exchange it for a new one. Wal-Mart has a very generous return policy. It has worked for me in the past.

I just contacted X-Box again 2 days ago...I am now sending back my SECOND X-Box, this one got the 3 rings of death a month or two after having my last one replaced! DAMN IT! This is getting annoying!

True.

They just recently announced they are extending the warranty on xbox360 consoles to 3 YEARS.

This is, however, only for the 3 flashing red light issue. This is a hardware failure and a very common one.

Props to them for stepping up and resolving the issue.

Again, if your xbox360 received the 3 red lights (aka 3ROD, ring of death) Microsoft will fix it for free. Call 1-800-4MY-XBOX.

If you already paid the $140 to have the red light issue fixed in the past, They should send you a refund check in 10-12 weeks.

ive had no problems with mine. i had it in iraq for several months , it got really dirty and works fine. my dog also knocked it off of the end table it sits on the other day and still works.

I have never had a problem with mine. I bought it about a year ago.

My friends have had problems though. Two of them had to send their 360's in for new ones.

Just replaced my son's XBOX 360 now for the fourth time. This time they said the problem "three red light ring of death" should not happen again. Shipping and handling were paid for this time. Total cost for shipping and repairs on prior returns now equals something over $300. They suck.......

Was torn between xbox and PS3. Went with Xbox Elite and it broke after 13 days.
After searching the net about the failure rates (33% fucking hell!) I know have a shiny PS3 and will never look back.
Xbox has great games but trust me, 3 out of every 10 sold break???
You will regret it
