X-Box Mods?

Anyone else on here a geek????

I was looking around the web and stumbled across people doing xbox mods...

not just a mod chip, but adding 120gb hard drive to back up your (rented) games, updating the bios, software so it will play vcd's, avi's, mpg, mp3, etc. , there are guys out there who have installed linux on their xbox..

Im thinking about giving it a try, anyone else on here know about it?

Give it a try, might be fun, especially if you're using X-Box, live. I've heard that since it's a Microsoft OS it can be hacked. I did a port scan on my home network while I had my PS2 Online on, it said it was an unknown OS, possibly UNIX, I was relieved to see that. I'm leary about the security of most things MS.

I have read that modded boxes are blocked from MS Live.
Thats no big deal now... but when Halo 2 comes out it would SUCK.

Actually, you can still play xbox live with a modded box..

But you need a switch on the modchip that you can turn off and on for when you connect to Live, otherwise you get banned immediately. Also if you have a different hard drive you need to make sure it is "locked", whatever that means.

A guy at my work just added a120 gb hard drive. A friend ceated a pogram for it and he now has just about every video game I've ever hear of. He's got like 10 versions of the Mortal Kombat arcade game alone.

Any recommendations on the chip to use? Ive heard the xecutor lite would be my best bet since its already flashed
