Wtf is wrong with my hands??

I need some medical assistance for a sec. Maybe you guys can help me solve this, rather then me heading to the doc.

Everytime I do shrugs and sometimes upright rows (no other exercise), and hold a real tight grip, with or without straps, my hands become numb either way. My body wants to pump out 15reps, but my hands won't allow me to acheive this. They hurt too much and I have to put the weights down.

It's as if not even blood is flowing to them.. but why? Is their anything besides trying to strengthen them that would help me out?

Any help would be appreciated!

Stop the upright rows, first off. You will gradually destroy your rotator cuff. The problem about your hands is probably a circulatory problem, but if you could describe everything that happens in more detail we could help a little more.

Right on the money. Upright rows is an old school movement that weight trainers have learned over the years isn't very good for your shoulders. I was told not to do them, or ANY behind the neck movement i.e. shoulder press or lat pull-downs, by an Orthopedic surgeon. You don't need them, there are better ways to work your shoulders and back.

Happens to me too when I go really heavy with starps. The blood vessels get constricted and sometimes I even pinch a nerve....no worries bro.

Xtreme2001,

I have had the same problems with my hands going numb while doing any semi intense exercise that causes my forearms to flex over a 30 second count. Farmers walks, even bent over rows would make my hand numbness to the point that i couldnt feel anything and would ultimately lose my grip. I thought that it was a strength problem so I worked on grip strenght to no avail. I do notice that it seems to be more prevelant while taking AS. I had my doctor check my BP and it was normal even while on dbol and test and EQ. It only started when I started getting stronger. If you find something out let me know, I would love to "feel" my last set.

If you cant feel your last set then maybe you shouldnt be doing it...must be a hella pump though.

well thanks for all the replies!
I appreciate it.

Spiderbaby- I'll talk to my doc about it, maybe he'll come up with something.
