Wsm 2004

They aired the WSM 2004 on ESPN 2 yesterday, I'm sure they'll continue to do so over the next few weeks so keep your eyes open! They had some awesome events this year, including a 1-on-1 sumo-type wrestling event.

1on1 wrestling? Really? I was flipping the channels at my house and saw it, got pumped to watch it, then realized I would have to sit there and listen to my friggin uncles talk about it like they know everything and that would have ruined it for me.

Yaah I only saw 2 of the episodes, but Mariuz Pudz and the eventual winner (can't remember his name) wrestled. Think sumo wrestling, but with strongmen instead of fatties

Just wanted to relate some news about Mariusz in case anyone didn't hear:

He got caught for steroid use. Had to relinquish all prize money for the 2004 WSM and is supended for 12 months.

They lottery tested the field this year. Two guys were picked at "Random" and tested.

I was under the impression all who entered were on the juice. Execpt fat the fat guy who was a farmer ( i forgot his name) Svend looked liked he was off cycle this time around.

You think someone had a hard-on for Pudz and wanted him disqualified? Perhaps he knew he was going to be disqualified, thus the sub-par performance (sub-par for him, great nonetheless)? I think I remember reading somewhere that they weren't going to let him compete this year because he was doing competitions in other federations ... maybe that had something to do with it?

Well as the two time winner so of course he was suspect. Also he came in much lighter than last year so that could have effected his performance greatly. Another part is that Dougie Edmunds has the idea to try and get strongman into the olympics. As with all olympic sports testing will be done, so he is probably trying to phase it in so that not all of the strongmen get dq'ed the first day.
