wrist pain???

Hey now,

I know this is not an AAS question but I figure this is a good place to ask. I get a sharp pain on the outside of my left wrist(in line with pinky) when working biceps. I cannot even touch a straight bar, I'm o.k. with dumbells and can work lightly with e-z curl bar.

I'm not sure if it is a lifting injury(hit some heavy cheat curls) or from Jiu Jitsu, I just know it hurts and is holding me back.

BTW, wrapping helps a little.

anyone else ever have anything like this?

Peace

If an exercise movement causes pain I avoid and find alternate.

go have an EMG. could be carpel tunnel

Go see a massage therapist maybe?? Could be your anconius (sp) muscle, near your elbow. Or it could just be tight extensor muscles in your forearm.

Could be worth a shot. Only consider carpel tunnel as a VERY VERY last resort.

Good luck.

Jeepmonkey, I was severly armbarred during sparring, my left arm was actually useless the next day(could not even wash my hair with both hands). got better after a couple weeks of resting/light lifting.

Well needless to say my left elbow was hyperextended(spelling?) and quite sore, and you have me wondering if this is related to my elbow injury.

Same thing happens to me. i just wrap it up. It feels like a shin splint, but in the forearm. Idk what it is though.

maybe a crushed nerve or partially torn ligament/tendon? your ulna and/or radius is most likely out of place aswell, you should see a good chiro

I've had similar problems before when sparring. It sucks man. Ice is king for the first 2-3 days. When you hyperextend anything, you obviously put a ton of strain on the joint and the bones. You can also over stretch the opposing muscles to the point of strain and in the reaction to this, the muscles tighten up greatly around tendons, nerves and the bones. If the muscles become too tight, it can and will pull bones together and cause even more pain. It's just a pain in the ass heh.

I'm all about massage before chiro. If the muscles are too tight, the adjustment will be wasted. The tight muscles will just pull everything back out of wack.

You might want to hit up a PT with a massage and chiro background.

Let me know what you find out. I'm interested.

Good luck!

Could just be your physiology does not like that type of movement.

If you can do DB's and EZ bars, then go with that.

Thanks for the input guys, I do believe it was just the aftermath of a wicked armbar.

I'm curling 125lbs for reps with the straight bar and more for my cheat curls and I have never had this level of disscomfort before, I don't think I could even curl 50lbs with a straight bar right now.

My wife has a massage therapist come to the house a couple times a month so I asked her yesterday to take a look at it and give me her opinion, so I may have her work on it if things don't improve soon.(She's HOT too! so thats a bonus).

Anyhow, I had my wife massage and stretch it for a while last night and it actually felt a little better to day, so I'm hoping it is just a tendon or muscle that tightened up after the trauma to my elbow.

I will update,
peace
