wow, Andrea Yates found guilty...

actually it was 3 hours 40 minutes... they were probabley waiting on one more round of donuts before going back into court.

And as for the past-partum syndrome - the effects typically last a few months, not years. Combining her and her husband's religious fervor with the cessation of her medication for treating mental illness - she pulled the proverbial safety off her behavior herself.

No child deserves the abuse/killing from a parent.

Does anyone really think she'll get the death penalty?? I can't imagine they'll give it to her, but it is Texas...

How could anyone think she's not insane? I mean, I know, I know "knew right from wrong", but she is SUCH a nutjob...damn damn damn.

btw, capt. insano, I love Bret Easton Ellis, but hate the word cunt. Go figure.

I am glad you like that author but i was not calling you a cunt unless you drowned your children.

I'm surprised that Ryan H hasn't chimed in this thread.

He's probably gonna say that she needs medical treatment and that it is wrong for her to recieve the death penalty.

OH RYAN H, WHERE ARE YOU? WHERE DO YOU HIDE?

I totally agree with AlexiaR...if I were to kill my child/children (if i had some), my b/f would kill me before anything else happened...

Come on this is Texas! Who thought she wasn't going to get convicted and fry in Texas?! Fools!!! (I think she should fry!!!).

Thanks CI, now I know how to stay on your good side.

DAMN you people are hard core into the death penalty. I don't want to debate this, just want a short answer from the death penalty fans: what, as dgreenhill said IS to gain from killing this PARTICULAR woman. And don't throw some religious "eye for an eye" stuff my way, we don't live in a theocracy.

This isn't really a valid point when it comes to justice... but wouldn't it be considerable cheaper to execute her in 10-12 years (or whatever amount of time it may take) then to keep her alive and healthy for the next 40 years.

or, were you perhaps being sarcastic. I have no idea...

I'm the wrong one to ask. I've worked in the joint. I'm in favor of the death penalty for armed robbery, child molestation, any repeat felonies that involve violence, kidnapping... etc...

The average violent "prisoner" in the US is not a human being. They are some kind of genetic throw backs or misfits. There is NO value in letting them roam the streets.

Either give them their own island, cut their balls of at 12 so they don't breed, or kill them.

But don't tell me they are people like us. They aren't.
