No, I guess I have a better imagination than the writers. I could think of lots of places to go for money. Medicaid, non-profit agencies, my church. I could sell my house and belongings. I could appeal to local district and state representatives. My kid's grandparents would sell their houses if they had to and cash in their retirements.

The way I read it, was that time was of essence. There was urgency in the matter. Like, say 48 hours. You can't sell your home and get the cash in 48 hours. Even cashing in on stock options sometimes take longer.
