Would you put this on your resume?

If you had a job earlier this year that lasted for only 9 weeks and you got fired for not being good enough would you even bother to put it on a resume? I can spin the situation to my favor but the bottom line is if anyone calls them they are just going to say i got fired for not doing a good enough job. I dont want to put it down but if I dont I will have a 9 month employment gap. So which is better?

It seems like everyone is unemployed these days, im sure it wont matter. And if they ask tell them you were taking care of your sick mother..lol

Don't reference the 9 week job. In regards to the 9 month gap, can't you say you worked freelance on a project of some sorts?

wat about the employment gap of 9 months, is that understandable since we are in a recession?

Tell them you wanted to use the time to support your favorite charitable organization. You did use the extra time on your hands to work for your church's food bank and clothing drive, didn't you?

Why as a matter of fact I believe I did. Of course I cant substantiate that if they ask for a reference or contact info

Cover the gap by saying you were self employed in some believable capacity. Not like they're the IRS or a mortgage company and are going to ask for receipts.

And no, do not mention the 9 week gig. I wouldn't mention it even if it had been an amicable separation due to the shortness of time (months here and there make a person look flaky) but frankly, when at all possible avoid mentioning employers who dumped you.

Yeah, but you are a devoted Christian who only attends home church. You guys do a bible study three nights a week and organize your own, independent philanthropic efforts. Then give them the contact information of your two bible study partners (two friends in on the deal) for references.

I still can't believe you three distributed 1,000 cans of food to the needy in a single weekend. You guys are amazing.

Exactly, the 9-week job has two strikes; short time and you got fired. The risk is to high that they could call the employer and you'd be fucked.

It is a shitty economy. Just say that you've been doing freelance and consulting work while you look for a full-time gig.

nope. don't list it.

I will just say I was "self employed for a while" tutoring accounting to the colleges around here, which are plentiful.
