So I asked my parents that if I died before them to ensure I have a Viking Ship Burial. Nothing grandiose just a small wooden boat with me in it set on fire and pushed out into a lake. So would you make a final request to your parents/ family that doesn't involve traditional burial/cremation?

i don't think the county will let your remains burn up in a lake somewhere. maybe the ocean if no one knew about it

They are just worried that they would get in trouble for attempting it. I see there point but then again my dad had a special request for his ashes and I told him that no force on earth would stop me from completing it if I am around for it.

I have already discussed it with them, there are tons of little remote lakes out there, the ocean is a bit far away from Colorado.

I loathe the funeral industry and do not wish to support them in any way, but I don't have any instructions for my parents if I go before them. I wouldn't trust them to get my instructions right anyway, and I don't particularly feel like making a statement at their expense. So if my parents have to deal with my death, I'm sure I'll get the usual imbalming and casket, which I fucking hate, but a funeral and a casket will be comforting and familiar for the folks.
