im not looking to do this, cause its not really realistic or anything, but i was just thinking about this. obviously ur going to build muscle if u do curls with barbells, but what if u were to do curls with nothing in your hand for 1000x what u would with weights (or whatever the ratio would be)....would u build muscle? not dying for the answer, but i was just curious.

And the answer is.... NO!! You would be purely working just your type I or slow twitch muscle fibers which are good for endurance but not for muscle hypertrophy.

everyone is correct..muscles are built using the overload principle,as you overload muscle you actually tear or damage the muscle fiber, thus when the tissue repairs it builds back more tissue to help handle the extra demand.
