worst movie

i was telling my mom that i thought the worst movie i ever saw was 'eyes wide shut' with nicole kidman and tom cruise. its a stanley kubrik movie and he's always wierd, but this one was just soooooo stupid and nicole kidman was possibly the worst actress i've ever seen, even though she's usually good.
my mom said she didn't see it, but she did watch "dogville" recently, also with nicole kidman and said that one HAD to be worse. we debated about it and finally made a bet.
i went and rented dogville, popped it in and started watching it.
15 minutes later i called her and said "i owe you $5".
that was one horrible movie- its like a tennessee williams play with a stupid set made into a movie with a way too long winded narrator.

what movie made you want to burn it?

Any one that has Martin Lawrence as the main star. As least Will Smith stole the show in Bad Boys I and II.

Others include :

Children of the Atom
CatWoman
My Brother, My Brother
Good Burger
SpyKids 2

Agreed.I was ready to slash my wrists about 1/2 way through that movie.I'm a huge Tom Cruise fan,but that was a total disaster.

Another one along those lines is,"Being John Malkovich."

I actually walked out of the theater on that one,and I never do that.

Speed 2, what a shitstorm that was.

movies like that- that aren't meant to be anything more than mildly entertaining or thrilling, are often just that. they are bareable for the 2 hours it takes to watch.
if you've ever seen something REALLY bad- you can't even sit through it.
I hated that movie with woody harrelson... i can't think of the name of it but it was pure violence and nothing more. i don't mind violence at all, but this was just rediculously stupid.
edit: natural born killers.

I have you all beat..

I was actually forced to sit through.. in its entirety..

"The English Patient"

You cannot comprehend the true meaning of hell until you are forced to endure the eye clawing, soul burning boredom of that movie.

And needless to say my ex-wife made me watch..

the movie was pretty bad. i watched it just so i could understand the whole friggin' book that i read that i didn't quite understand either but was too embarrassed to tell my literary friend that made me read it.

I got one, Universal Soldier: The Return.
Shit, the first one was exellent. But this one, my god. I thought having Goldberg in a movie would make it watchable..i was wrong.

lol, yes, that was a bad one.
in eyes wide shut- remember when he went to the costume shop and knew exactly what he wanted? ("i want a mask, and a black cape").
when he walked into the party and everyone was wearing the exact same thing, i said "good thing he didn't get the clown costume"
and then fell off my chair laughing at myself.

lol, no, its not.
wanna borrow it? :qt:
its actually on my mantel right now, along with a collection of poe and 'under the tuscan sun'.
i read a lot but those make me look interesting.

Sure Sugarplum Id like to borrow it.. can you bring it to my house?

I forgot to do the laundry so I may not be fully clothed when you knock on the door.. but Ill make sure to heat up the jacuzzi for you.

dogville was a good movie IMO- you should have watched till the end... it would make a good topic about the nature of man and man/god

I think the set etc sucked - but I think it was that way to help you concentrate on the characters and the actions of them, etc - more like a play.

the set sucked, the script sucked, the filming sucked, the narration sucked and it would have been a waste of time to sit through it just to discuss man vs. god since i'm an atheist.
oh, and you suck too. :goof:

she is always cute imo.
she was a nice size in 50 first dates- not chunky, not super thin.

Anaconda
Battle Field Earth
House of Dead
Godzilla 2000
Cool As Ice
Gymkata <---- oh lord...
Rollerball 2002

i managed a video store in college. i remember that movie, and "surf nazi's must die" being really lame.

The Talented Mr. Ripley.

I actually asked for my money back.

Kids movie: Master of Disguise -Dana Carvey.

Even my 6 year old said, "well that sucked."

thoughts of you and the movie theater running thru my head making me LMAO!! Ill never forget that story.

Original Dawn of the Dead sucked monkey ass too. Hitting zombies in the face with pies, red necks hunting them, a fat ass biker spending the last 10 seconds of his life getting his blood pressure checked... sigh....

XXX with Vin in it ate ass ink the entire time.

Guilty of the offense, but only the walker.Old man just sat safely a distance away watching his walker thoroughly violate me.

The Mexican....what a stupid movie that was. I even bought the DVD not knowing what kind of a movie it was.

I liked Eyes Wide Shut, not immensely but enough to sit through it

hot chicks in cool masks, good orgy scenes.

Being John Malkovich was good I thought. Pootytang and The Dark Crystal.

the dark crystal. thats an interesting one. i wouldnt call it bad though, its jim hensen weird.

killer clowns from outer space- that is one bad movie. or, pick any movie made by sci-fi.

the sorriest flick I saw was a Richard prior flick about his life and drug addiction.. I left and saw "Band of the Hand"

Are you kidding? Band of the Hand was a bad ass movie. I thought it was cool as shit.

Moulin Rouge : killl me, kill me please.. worst movie ever.

lol @ HuckFinn and the revenge of the walker.. as soon as you posted about walking out of a movie I thought of that and started laughing.. :D

urallknobgobblers said:
Band of the Hand was the shit. You guys gotta be old like me to know that one

Well I am old but I look 28. :D The drug lord dude(the one that played in the Warriors and 48 hours) was cold as shit. Remember when the one dudes girl friend went to his house and he asked her how old she was and she said 16. Then he says go upstairs, take off your clothes and wait for me. And she said what and he looks at her mean like and says it again and then she does as she was told.

what was that movie where the guy was challenged with a knife and he took it away and gave it back to the black gang guy. and the dumbass tried it again. This time the pale white guy took the knife and jacked the dude through the window?

Milo Hobgoblin said:

actually only about 300... didnt quite understand how that pans out into a movie like that either....

Eyes Wide Shut is a good flick...but I think it's one of those movies you must be in the right mindset for before you watch for the first time. If you're not in that mindset and you watch it, you'll be disapointed.

Ditto with Lost In Translation - one of my recent favorites.

I agree on this one.I could identify in a weird sort of way with their characters and enjoyed the story.
LOL, me too. I wont go into the whole story, but I felt like I was living the movie in the sense of the character relationship between Bob Charlotte...

Same here...Parts of their loneliness and knowing that despite wanting to be together and being happy with one another, that they could not continue due to other circumstances they were waist deep in.Sigh.

Hope Floats......Sandra Bullock & Harry Connick Jr. -- god awful movie.....

Once I saw Eyes Wide Shut all the way thru, I couldn't believe all that stupid drama was over something so inane as a sex club.... who cares??

Here are my picks

Captain Corellis Mandolin (nic cage penelope cruz)
Cold Moutain
Jeepers Creepers

Some movies I was not able to watch till the end :

You Got Served
From Justin to Kelly
Rollerball (2002)
Werewolf
Gigli
Mortal Kombat: Annihilation

...also

Universal Soldier: The Return
Speed 2

chitty chitty bang bang

Whiskey

Id have to say that AnalRama and World's Largest Cocks had to be the worst I ever saw on VHS. I asked for my money back from the flea market where I bought them.

Some of the movies named are great movies. Talented Mr Ripley and Being John Malkovich kicked ass. They might not be your style, but good nonetheless.

On the other hand, why have some of you people seen some of these movies? Master of Disguise? From Justin to Kelly? I wouldn't see From Justin to Kelly if they gave me 300 dollars. Ok yeah I would, but it would suck.

Again,I partially agree.Talented Mr. Ripley was good IMO,with solid performances.BJM was just way too out there for me,and there was nothing that even raised my pulse for a moment in it.I literally felt like I expired and was cast down into a theater in Hades.

I can see that. It's definitely not your normal movie. You have to be in the right mood to enjoy it.

21 grams sucked

New York Minute (aka the Mary Kate & Ashley movie). Even tho you guys think theyr hot, theyre terrible actresses & they sing in this movie too

Yeah I actually thought 21 grams was pretty average too. I liked everyone in it, and it was ok, but I had seen the same thing done already quite a lot recently.

I think you missed the point. I'm not saying it was "above you," rather your experience picked up on other concepts. I'd never describe a major theme of the film as drama over a sex club.

I actually like "eyes wide shut"

It's a bit over-acted but some scenes are awsome
The plot is not the most important thing
The atmosphere, the images,.... it's art !

Kubrick is a genius

he can be (full metal jacket) and he can be a lunatic (a clockwork orange).
its funny, most of the film majors where i went to college said he was a genius, but if you got them drunk or in private, they'd admit to not understanding what the hell he is about.

Well, it's not my worst movie, but Butterfly Effect definitely would place somewhere on the Worst movie list. As much as I love Bette Milder, Scenes from a Mall and another movie or two of hers have been far from impressive.

I agree with some of eat big's list of best movies, but I haven't seen a few of them and so I can't say the whole list is fabulous until I have.

Back to the Worst Movies though, unfortunately, right now I can't exactly think of my most hated movie . . .

curling said:
How can you not like Butterfly Effect. It was a trippy ass movie that was well produced.

It kept going and going and going - it was like watching Back to the Future over and over again. AWFUL!

Now, Badder Santa - that's a good movie.

Bad movies:

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom - OK OK, we now know that the blond broad can scream.

Masterminds - Patrick Stewart is better than that

A.I. - a decent flick, but the movie studio didn't know what to do with it. Was it action? science fiction? a love story? I think people went in expecting one thing, saw something else, and was disappointed.

Altough I kinda liked Any Given Sunday (OK, it was the lockerroom scenes), Oliver Stone tends to beat people over the head with the same point, as if the audience doesn't get it the first time.

Someone really need to volunteer to take one for the team and watch "Liquid Sky," just so someone other than me can understand just how truly bad a film can really be. I wonder if it's still in print?

Left out "GoodFellas" on the good list...

Here's my 3 top losers...

Deep Blue Sea
Master of Disguise
Farewell to the King...(Nick Nolte's worst)

Story of my fucking life. Got Librium?

Two worst movies of all time:

Second place goes to Bronco Billy. Clints worst effort and one that he tried to buy the prints to make go away. One those <shudder> Sandra Locke era films. I would rather suck a horses nose until it's ass collapses that see that bone chipping nightmare again.

And the grand prize goes to... I would like to take a moment to thank all the posters here for sharing their horror, esp. Huck for refreshing my memory of the Amityville Walker, makeing me squak like a parrot whilest snarfing snot out of my nose trying to suppress the laugh in front of the hot sales chick, thanks a million Huck.... and now...

The Conqueror with John Wayne as Genghis Khan.

tagline: "Spectacular as its barbaric passions and savage conquests!"

trivia:

  • Filmed near the site of contemporaneous nuclear testing grounds, the set was contaminated by nuclear fallout. After location shooting, much dirt from the location was transported back to Hollywood in order to match interior shooting done there. Scores of cast and crew members developed forms of cancer over the next two decades, many more than the normal percentage of a random group of this size. Quite a few died from cancer or cancer-related problems, including John Wayne, , Susan Hayward, Pedro Armendáriz, Agnes Moorehead, Thomas Gomez, and director Dick Powell.
  • Wayne took his role very seriously, went on a crash diet, and took Dexedrine tablets 4 times a day.
  • The eccentric billionaire, Howard Hughes, provided the financial backing of this film and paid approximately $12 million for every existing print of the film from a sense of guilt. It was Hughes that paid for the shipping of 60 tons of radioactive dirt to Hollywood for retakes (see above). He kept a jealous hold on it, not even allowing it to be seen on television, for 17 years, until 1974, when Paramount managed to secure the rights to reissue it.

Sometimes you don't need to fully understand to appreciate a movie
Just relax and enjoy :)

David Lynch's movies are just impossible to understand but it's a pleasure to watch them

There was nothing pleasurable about "Wild At Heart." Just an insult to the senses. It was heavy-handed and un-subtle. The whole point of symbolism is lost if you bludgeon your audience with it.

There are alot of 'em but one of the worst was Desparado (sp).
That movie royally sucked ass!!

A couple others were:
A.I. and that Mars movie with Gary Sinece (sp)

who said I couldn't follow it. It sucked. All of the actors were great, I really liked the cast, but the storyline was terrible. In fact, the only reason it was shot like that was to try and hide a horrible story line.

As far as it being my opinion, i'm pretty sure this entire thread contains nothing but opinions...
