World's Strongest....

O.K. They had a show on today and were doing a deadlift contest. Now keep in mind that on his vid, Ronnie Coleman did 800lbs twice on that lift. How about only 3 people were able to do over 700lbs!
The field included Janne Virtanen and a guy from England named Stumpy Raynes...Raynes won with 760, Virtanen came second with 730. Now I'm really thinking that Ronnie could win this title with a couple years of strongman training. I just thought that since these guys were strength competitors that they should be stronger than any bodybuilder....Guess i was wrong..:(

Actually, yeah just a regular barbell deadlift..no trees, or metal poles or anything else. No straps allowed but they were using belts...I guess so, but I now believe that some of today's BBuilers would at least have a running chance in an event like this.

Maybe, but there's so much more to that sport. With proper training and if he was 10 years younger, Ronnie would have a shot to develop into a competitor in that sport.

I saw one onetime where a pro bb that had just competed in the Mr. O competed. I can't remember who it was (no it wasn't Franco) but HE SUCKED! He could hardly hold on to anything as he had zero grip strength and stamina.

I saw that one too.

Yes Ronnie did do 800lbs. twice in the video and also while he was dieting which would make it even tougher. And I thing Ronnie probably could be the strongest powerlifter in the world if he trained like a powerlifter but hes a bb so he could probably care less about powerlifting. Besides Ronnie Coleman is a true freak and it will be along time before we see another bb with genetics such as is.IMO

800lbs is an excellent deadlift. But there are guys in the 198lb class doing more, so greatest powerlifter won't be so easy.

I think it was Ferrigno...you're right he did suck!

correct me if im wrong. but wasent ronnie coleman formerly a powerlifter..before turning into a bb???

and i also saw him in footbal uniform in a stadium that looked as if he was playing major college football....
wich would show more of his freakness...

i know ferrigno competed in these

Even at 5'11" Ronnie would be at a height disadvantage (most of those guys are at least 6'3"). Of course Gary Taylor (6') was able to overcome this, but that is because the events favored shorter guys that year.

Curtis loeffler tried to qualify for the world strongest man but he performed badly. He was something like the hawaian strongest man though. He was so veiny, so red during events, he looked so unhealthy that I was afraid he had a heart attack . BTW he died recently because of a heart problem.
