Workout Book Recommendations

Hey,

There are probably 50 million books online, should I just choose one and go with the flow? I'm assuming there are many that won't meet my needs, and many that will. So I thought instead of going on Amazon.com and reading through a ton of books, I'd see if you guys can guide me in the right direction?

I'm about 5'8" and weigh about 220-230, and here's what I want to do:

I do NOT want to be huge (muscle huge), I just want to lose weight and be extremely tone and ripped. I guess that's pretty much it. Any recommendations?

Thanks!

I'm not much into "how to" books. I would recommend you:

1. Pick a routine that meets your goals/experience
2. Pick a diet that meets your goals
3. Get started

All of the information you need is right here on this site. All too often i think we get caught up in research and planning and never get around to doing. You will find that doing is important because everybody is unique and will respond differently to different training and diet regiments. The sooner you get started the better.

Look into the 5x5 routine and a keto diet. That might be 2 good starting points based on the info you gave.

good luck.

Ha, actually OP, if there is one book i would recommend it would be the Anabolic Kitchen (sold here). Regardless of the diet you choose you are going to have to cook. This book has something like 300 recipes geared towards results.

+1

PM EF Frank and he will get you the hook up. Very good book that will teach you how to cook and provide you with an ass ton of killer recipes.

As far as training books are concerned. I would highly recommend "Starting Strength" by Mark Rippetoe & Lon Kilgore. Get that here.....

Elite Fitness Systems

As soon as I can get a credit card with a few bucks worth of room on it. Food is such a key and only becomes more and more important the bigger you get.

A good book to get is Brawn, Beyond Brawn, etc... by Stuart McRobert. He lives just down the road from me and even though he doesn't seem to want to meet me...his books are really actually good.

It depends what type of person you are. Are you looking for a book that is really just describing a specific program for you to use, or are more interested in the general science/theory of training?
