stopped in at an old friend's house last night. we've known each other for over 15 years, grew up together, got in trouble together, partied together...all that good stuff.
so after we get there, his gf and my gf were off talking while me and him were having a few beers and talking. we're doing the normal stuff for us....we chat about cars, dumb shit we've seen people do with cars, dumb shit we did with our own cars, trying to see who could remember the funniest stories of our days of being destructive.....this is what old friends do once you've settled down a bit in life.
well, the women were talking out of earshot of us. buddy's gf said "listen to them, all they're doing is talking about stupid shit like cars.
so, what are you doing for YOU out of all of this?"
she asked what she meant. his gf says "well, you're letting him come down here (it's a 2 hour drive each way), so what is he letting YOU do in return?"
my gf - :wtf:
she decided to shut her up and said "i do plenty of stuff for myself, i'm just doing something for him coming along on this trip. those 2 don't get to see each other much at all and when they do, i just step back and let the men be boys again. it's good for both of them."
some chicks will NEVER understand that when guys get together, it's not to sit around and talk about flowers or decorating or anything like that. guys want to kick back a few beers, relax, and enjoy strengthening the bonds of friendship that were forged many years in the past.
my buddy did, however, seem to be kind of worried when i mentinoed wedding this year and said he's going to have to get sized for a tux. he said "i've never worn a tux." well man, there's a first for everything. you'll look just fine and you are going to need one (i havn't fully broken the news to him that he needs to fill in the best man position, but i think he's gotten the hint.)
