How bad it is to have them removed ? I heard it's a living hell. Tell me your horror sorties. I need to prepare myself...

not a big deal at all for me. depends on the situation though. get local anestesia so you are knocked out and will wake up like nothing happened.

Interesting. So there's no pain ? After ? No need to have a special diet for a week ?

In my case there wasn't much...some people that have there compacted get pain and can't eat much for a day or two. I didn't have a problem..I got them removed and was good, took acouple painkillers also...then had the stiches removed a week later and I was fine.

Get some others opinions, because theres might differ from mine.

mine were fine, I had the lower two out about 5 years ago.

they get you high off nitris first, then put you out.

some people have lots of pain. I didnt have any, but of course I soaked them for all the vicodin I could get, then I said they hurt really bad and they gave me oxycontinins.

lucky one of my friend only got those miserable codeine 30 mg.....

the roots of 2 of mine were wrapped around the jawbone & had to be cut out wasn't too bad the worst part was i put up with them off & on for 10 yrs running a fever before i finally got the guts to do it,i had one drawback one tooth didn't heal right and developed a dry socket ( thats where the nerve is exposed to air) NOW THAT HURT!!! Fortunately the Dentist gave me some lortab plus for pain and packed the exposed area until it healed!!! The high was worth it!!!!:p

i had 4 horizontally impacted wisdom teeth which required removal, basicall they were never going to come up like regular teeth would but instead would push to move the teeth infront of them to squeeze together. The surgery took over 2 hours and i was in pain for 9 days afterward, i followed the docs orders to the T and was still in a great amount of pain, i learned to live on shakes and water. This was while taking the prescribed tyl 3.

i had 1 wisdom tooth pulled. It was painless, bled for about 4 hours, and that was it. The dentists chair was fucked up, it has these velcro straps on the arms, the kind you use to tie people down. Kindof offputting.

Just hope your wisdom teeth aren't close to the nerve that passes through your jaw. That can complicate things pretty bad.

When I got mine out, the pain pills didnt work for me and the first few days were spent in blinding pain and then a few weeks later I got an infection on one side. Have fun :D

I had four out last year. The bottom two was near that nerve. No complications though, lots of blood. Make sure you score some real pain killers out of the deal. I got stuck with like 600 mg ibuprofins or something, it sucked and made me bleed like a stuck pig. All I could eat was icecream and lots of protein shakes. Ever had a blood flavored protein shake? or strawberry blood icecream? Good stuff.

I had one impacted wisdom tooth removed. A few shots of novicaine <sp> and that was it. He told me to take tylenol for the pain. It bled for a few hours and I didn't eat till the next day. My dentist was insane though...I never got any drugs for fillings except a junky plastic toy when it was all over. It took months for the hole to completely close up...that part was gross!

i had all 4 removed at once... they gave me halcion and i only remember bits and pieces because i was way gone... mine hurt really bad afterwards for a day or so and then i was back eating hamburger. The office staff said when i was fucked up i was really funny though.

oh i forgot to add my chest was kinda sore afterwards and when i went back in for my check up my dentist told me that the oral surgeon had his knee on there while he was prying them out... i have no idea if that was true but it was kind of funny either way.

My first two....surgery took about 20 minutes. Not too much pain right after. Developed dry socket. YOu don't want that. Trust me and anyone else who's had it.

Second time. Badly impacted tooth on the bottom attached to the jawbone. 90 minutes of surgery. In agony for about two days. Made sure I didn't develop the dry socket again and I was fine.

I just hope I'll get the right pain killers. No way I will accept fucking Tylenol 3. I already tylenol 300 with 30 mg codeine and I'm sure it wouldnt do shit for it.

Are you using Canadian Govmt Deltal care ?
If so, better update your will... :D

I'm not sure if its covered or not, but might cost me a good 600$ for each one.

My older Sister had her's out at 17 or 18 yrs old or so and decided
not to listen to the Dr. and went out partying that nite.

Her face blew up like a Chipmunk the next day....

I guess all sorts of things can happen, best thing to do is get a highly recomended guy.

Saint thats nuts about the surgean with his knee on your chest. :D

my mom had a wisdom pulled ,her Dentist was in his seventies (old school type) any she later told me he had his knee on her chest grabbed the tooth and with trembleing hands he said Mrs B are you scared whiled he pulled & tugged Mom replied uh huh! he said well don't worry cause i am too!!!!

OH man! i would've stopped it right there!!!!LOL!!!

Manny,

Cut the crap. You don't "hope" - you "TELL" your doctor he is going to give you a powerful painkiller. As a matter of fact, tell him you want the Duragesic patch 50mg.

If he gives you and shit... get another doctor.

Take any narcotic with 600mg of Advil... makes it work much better.

The big question on how hard this will be for you is - how old are you? I'm 44. At my age it is a risk to get my wisdom teeth out because they have fused to the bone. Every year after your teens it gets tougher.
