Wireless Router -- which to get?

I'm looking at a wireless router for my home and see most are 10 or 11mbps and they also make 22mbps, etc.

Is there that much of a difference?

Lynksys and SMC are the best IMO. 11mps is all you really need too. Make sure to get one with printserve if you're sharing a printer with all your cpus.

Indeed I'd say Linksys is the way to go, I got the Linksys BEFW11S4 Wireless Access Point Router. Works flawlessly. You can set it up for 128-bit WEP encryption (secure enough for a home user). I only set it up to spit out enough DHCP addresses for all the computers in my house (and my PS2 network adapter), but my neighborhood is mostly old people, so I'm not too worried about some schmuck driving around with their laptop trying to connect to my network.

Not sure how far I could access with from outside the house but I have in on the second floor of my house in my room and I can still get "Excellent" signal strength and a full 11Mbps 2 floors down in my basement.

They make some new routers and wireless cards that support the new IEEE 802.11g 54 Mbps. Most people don't need that much bandwidth though (I use it mostly just to share my cable connection) plus the equipment is more expensive as well for a 54 Mbps WLAN

I also have the Linksys wap, works great, easy to get going, no prob. They also have an amplifier that you can add if you have signal problems.

I would say to buy the 22 mbs unit if you can get a good price, so you are set for "down the road"

Excellent quality? Not far.
But they're rated to recieve at like 100 feet or so.
