Windham, NY

Did they name that town after former professional wrestling superstar Barry Windham?

They probably did.

Can I come?

You know, I don't know.

...as long as you don't have me arrested...

I don't like NY skiing. Been to Hunter and it was mediocre. Never heard of a great time. On the other hand, VT has some nice east coast slopes and I'll go with you anytime.

Not bad.. can be pretty icy....

go farther north to the Catamount/Butternut/Jiminy Peak area.. better snow.

Better yet: follow Sawasteas advise and do Southern VT.

I'm pretty clueless - think I'd know the difference?

I don't ski, but I know the area. I have family(mostly dead) in Greene county.

Barry also had a brother right? Kevin Windham and his dad is Blackjack Mulligan I think? If I'm thinking of the rights guys, they live about an hour away from me. My father in law talks to them all the time especially considering he's a Lake County deputy and they like to get in a lot of trouble :p

er, sorry about the family.

what's the area like?
Old.....Away from the ski tourist money.
Catskills are one of my favorite places on Earth.
I rifle hunt there, well, used to.
The unique topography is cool. Nestled places dot the area.
Like a mom and pop maple syrup processer and seller, two miles down on a dirt road.
You'll find towns there where the parking lot is in the middle of the road.
I know Hunter well, not Windham, besides the post office.
Fall there is sooo colorful.

very cool.. if you want blackbears and timber rattlers: our place includes half of Rattlesnake Mountain.... no kidding..
I almost pissed myself :worried:
Like I said, I love that area, and I don't love much.
I go by RS Mountain, but never been on it. I see the tower from the highway.
What kinda farm?
"our place" ? Is that your folks?

Windham I recall being not so great...sort of mediocre. If you're a talented skier (I am not, but I play one on TV) then you won't find the hardest courses to be that tough.

If you're a lousy skier, then it will be a fun day, and the medium to hard courses are enjoyable without getting yoursef killed.

Also, it is not that far of a ride from LI, which, after a day or two of beatig the shit out of yourself on the slopes, is its own reward.

:)

Velv,

Windham is A LOT better than Hunter. Hunter is one big ice mountain. Windham isn't hard as Matt says, but it's a lot more people friendly. No guido's. :)

You'll enjoy it.

And don't listen to Sawastea, he has no clue, he grew up in Florida.

I've skiied more mountains then you can imagine.

And don't listen to Bilescrewge, he's still a virgin.
