Will the hot tub or sauna make you burn calories?

Your body will burn more calories in a sauna in an attempt to cool itself. But the number of calories burned in that process is negligible.

The illusion of weight loss (while technically not an illusion because you do lose weight) comes in the form of lost water from sweating. The lost pounds do not come from fat.

Just use the Temperature of the Body as A.

And use the Termperature of the Sauna at B.

The 3rd law of Thermodynamics states that when two bodies at different Temps are put in a closed system, they will reach a homeostatic temp C.

Since B > A....then your bodies temperature will increase.

Result is you burn more calories.

But these are gymtime said are negligible.

Smartypants.

:D

i could see that applying to the difusion of heat...however, when you are in a hot tub, you are absorbing heat, and you would actually be sweating in a attempt for your body to cool down...not really burning increased calories.

its great for recovery for sore muscles though.

i read a study where they concluded that it aided in gh release before sleep.
