Will Smith as Ali...

Hard to tell from that pic. Dont think he'd have to do too much though. Not like Ali was some freak or anything.

He looks huge... his biceps have got to be at least 20"

Steroids! All the Hollywood studs do steroids before they a play a physical role with their shirt off. Wouldn't you? Can't hardly think of a better reason.

I imagine he just ate a lot and worked out hard. Then again, juice is fairly common in Hollywood, just like any other drug.

Who knows? Who cares?

What? I would say 15" or 16" TOPS.

Nice... you've turned this thread from an "insult Will Smith" thread to an "insult Warik" thread. Mine are 15" or 16" tops. =(

Let's say 13" or 14" to make everyone happy, shall we? I don't think there are any guys here with 13-14 inchers.

Yeah...heh heh...no one here with 14inchers...heh heh.

you'll hear mixed reactions... i personally think he did, massive dramatic increases in size for his age isn't really too common.

I don't know about the juice, but he is the perfiect guy to play Ali because of his cockiness, big ears, hair, and good looks. I hope he does a decent job of acting like Ali.

I wonder who they found ugly enough to play Joe Frazier?

In the trailers, Smith's accent needs work. And Smith is not nearly as sexy and good looking as Ali at the same age.

Some guys like Nicolas Cage do for certain parts. But looking at Smith and considering the time he put in training, I'd say he worked hard and got good advice/guidance from a nutritionist or trainer. Make no mistake, he put in A LOT of hard work for that role. He actually trained like a boxer and got hit, not like a movie star, but like a boxer.

Remember, guys that don't train seriously but are in good shape are primed to make a lot of progress in a short time when it's needed. The whole Ed Norton thing with American X is laughable. Same for Brad Pitt in Fight Club. Also, remember that just because movies come out close to each other or in a certain order, it doesn't mean they were shot that way. A recent movie, Texas Rangers, was originally slated to be released in Spring of '01. It has been sitting on a shelf all year, mostly because it is supposed to really suck.

I'm sure Ali would say that no one can be "The Greatest"

Is the movie out yet?

I'm interested in how it treats his conversion to Islam and how the public is reacting to it NOW.

It is out in my city Christmas Day.

Ali went on one of the tragedy fund raisers recently, denouncing the violence and stated that Islam is not about violence (using Will Smith as a speaker).

I grew up loving Ali because my family did.

There is nothing like a man or woman who has convictions and sticks to them even when it is not convenient.

I doubt if he did any gear. He looks to smooth for that. He probably hired a full time PT who did the whole natty training nutrition thing. Which is a very smart move if you are not into Iron as psychotically as I and others are.

Ditto. I remember my brother and I wanted to go as Cassius Clay one Halloween. My brother won and my mother forced me to go as one of the Beatles. *Sniff*. I guess that's what made me queer.

Why all the did this star do juice for this part posts? Who knows, who cares? As stated above, Smith trained as a boxer for over a year and we know that the stars have everything at their disposal so it is possible that they could get that size in a year, that's a long time. I think it would be funny if he did do juice considering his whole god like attitude. He hates rappers and says they give people a bad image of black americans yet he considers himself one. He delivers quite the messages in his music. Should I quote "Nightmare on My Street" or "I Think I Can Beat Mike Tyson" for his inspirational and poetic words? His wife, Jada Pinket, has the same attitude and yet she made her career playing a hoodrat with a bad attitude (Different World, Menace to Society), such hypocrites. Same with her interview on Oprah when Ali himself was on there she talks about being a strong smart black women and sits there and says "aight girl, youknowatimsayin!!" about 50 times. Bottom line is that from what I've seen Smith does a good job of playing Ali. Ali is one of the most important people in world history and hopefuly this film does him justice.

He thickened up, but he also had a year to bulk up. 40 pounds in a year isn't unrealistic.

If he did juice, I'd be surprised. I've always kind of thought he'd have good genetics. But with juice he could have come in harder.

He looks good though, nice lines, good shape.
