If I get a pentagram tatooed around my navel? OK its not a pure pentagram, but a star with a circle aroung it, with the star tilted so that the point would be facing south-southwest say & the star going beyong the boundaries of the circle. From what I have read about Satanism, the basic Creed involved is to live your life as you want, and to worry ONLY about your needs and thats it. This theory I totally am on board with, but Im not about sacraficing people and drinking their blood or any of that shit. Its the THEORY that I like. Thus the Pentagram facing south-southwest to represent that I only identify with certain aspects of the practice and not the RELIGION in and of itself. So......Do you guys think this is tacky, or blasphemous? And do I sound like a bad person for saying what I just said. Im asking for opinions in case I DO get the TAT, and people ask me why I have a Pentagram Tattoed on my Stomach......Will my explanation for it sound rediculous to them. Any thoughts??

If you're going by Lavey's writings then yes, their belief is to worship thyself as being the most powerful being on the earth and not some hypocritical anal deity. They're definition of a satanist is different than most think. They're actually atheist for the most part even though in The Satanic Rituals, they do have ceremonies worshipping Satan which struck me ass odd. If you're reading about actual devil worshipping then you must accept the sacrificing of animals. Lavey toushes on it some I think but it's been a while since I read his books. If you want it get it but be ready for criticism. If it won't bother you don't worry about it. I have an inverted pentagram hanging form my Rear view mirror and I get some strange looks sometimes. I've held the same beliefs for a while so I could care less what they say to me.

First, let me say as a tattoo fan, SCREW EVERYONE ELSE, if you like it, that's all that matters. However, what you're fearing will likely happen. An inverted pentagram is a sign of Satan. A regular Pentagram is a symbol used in Paganism/Wicca, and isn't anything "bad" (meaning the four cornerstones or watchtowers of nature and the spirit/self or Goddess/God at the top, depending on the particular religion). But 99% of the population thinks IT means evil, you think they're gonna understand what yours means? Hell no.
If it were me, I would not get it. A straight-up Pentagram can be a symbol of self-empowerment too. I suggest you think long and hard, if you're not ready to prescribe to Satanism, maybe you shouldn't do it.

But, in the words of the Great One (not that one, The Rock), It doesn't MATTER what I think!
