Will Gonelifting (me) get scammed? The countdown begins.

I just ordered a 22 inch TV online. Got a good price, even got a 3 year warranty (for the hell of it, never really do that warranty stuff). It`s supposed to come by the end of this week. They`re sending it UPS but will NOT give Tracking nuber because they can get scammed easily by "getting the package rerouted..."

hmmm T- 4 days... lol

Anyone ever hear of that rerouting scam?

Did you get permission from your mom before you did that?
 
Will your mom be signing for the delivery ?
If so, I'd be concerned about her re-routing it to her room at the home..
 
wtf? Three replies re "mom" Come on people! $1600 riding on this HDTV. I gotta get my HD Discovery channel going.

Can`t I just call my CC company to cancel if there`s a problem? I hear horror stories all the time, this place SEEMED OK. lol We`ll see.

First time I hear about this re-routing thing. I've bought a shitload of items and most were sent by UPS" Never had any problems to get the tracking number. Where did you buy this ? A legit store ? Some online store based in the Tuvalu island ?

I live in NJ and the place is in NY. I have the opportunity to go pick it up but it`s a high tax versus no tax/low delivery charge, so I took the chance.

Can I post the site here?

I don't know or have I ever heard of the re routing issue. There is no reason they shouldn't provide you with it as proof they actually sent you something. I hope you didn't deal with one of the many questionable electronics/photo stores in New York. Is the 3 year warranty provided through their store? If so it is probably "grey market" electronics. No U.S. warranty and if you have any problems the only place you can go is back to them which is usually when the trouble starts. Grey market items are those meant to be sold outside of the U.S. without it no shop in the U.S. will work on it and you would have to send it overseas to be fixed which in many cases the shops there won't touch it because you bought it in the U.S. This is why they have lower prices than most. I hope it all works out for you and please post the store name.

Why wouldn't you buy something like this from a reputable palce like Best Buy? It might cost a little extra, the piece of mind is worth it, they also have online purchase, delivery and offer a valid warranty.

Just my $.02

thanks. I posted the link over your post. The warranty is through the manufacturer, nt through the store. "in home warranty" for 3 years after the original one year expires for $189, Too good to be ture? lol

The above is a description of the TV. It`s going in my kitchen area, that`s why it`s small. Actually 22" for a kitchen is a tad big but I wanted to be able to see the damn images. lol I may use it at a later time for a computer monior as well.

Sorearms, I don` ind paying a little extra for peice of mind (hence the warranty) but at Best Buy it`s like $1800-$1900 for that TV without the warranty. At this place It`s $1389... or so with $40 shipping UPS I should get it by end of week cause it`s one state over. $4-$500 savings is worth it IMO. There`s a decision you make with these purchases and this was too much price difference to go locally for. Maybe for $200 I would have done it.

I still need component cables and stuff... that`s a lot of $$$ also wall mount maybe... damn!!! The price we pay for watching detailed porn, I mean Discovery channels. lol

That`s the one thing I`m NOT counting on in my lifetime. (inheritance) I`m gonna pay the funeral costs... No matter, I worked for every dollar of my money.

I am a little retarded though, in case you`re wondering. Some people like that.

Actually I bought a Sony camera over the net from a reputable site for $2400. So this is`nt as much for 1600.

hmmm... I don't think I would buy anything off the net like that unless they had actual stores I could go to and I knew they would be there tommorrow...

but to each his own...

hey one of these fell off a truck by my house... it is a 40" LCD and goes for $6-8,000... if you send me 4000 in cash I will cover shipping myself and mail it out to you... BTW I can't give you a tracking number cause I don't want to get scammed....
 
HOLY Shit! I just got the package!!! lol Damn!

UPS I received it about half hour ago. btw becoming, they do have a store in NY, I`m in NJ that`s why I did that.

Anyway I opened it up and everything looks good so far. I did`nt even buy all the proper cables yet for it. I figured I have time. lol That`s gonna be a few hundred for that. damn.

NEXT DAY!!! UPS ground. thanks for all the replies bros. I just saved $400-$500. and did`nt leave my house.

One thing though. I bought a 3 year warranty that I don`t have the paperwork for. I`m assuming they`ll send that to me with the receipt because this was delivered from their warehouse and not from their actual store. I`ll call them and ask.

I am looking into a LCD projection....not bad prices and have great pictures.

HAve you seen the new Epson TV's with the built in Printer?

I have`nt. Why the hell would you want a prineter on a tv. Never get those together IMO. One will always surpass the other and you`ll be stuck. The only LCD Big screen I`m looking at next (unless something else comes along) is the Sony 70HDTV...YES 70 inch LCD TV lol. It`s really 3 screens/images put together to make it sharper. I have a 50 inch SDTV and the only upgrade in size would be a 70" plus IMO. That`s a long way off though. About $6000 for that one.

by the way it is customary for house guest to bring some alcoholic libations.... tiger also is stopping at the store for the cornnuts....
 
The Sony`s have a memory stick slot where you can view pics and I think vifeo right from the front of the TV. That was on my list, 23 inch Sony LCD but I did`nt ike the way it looked. Too much space on the bottom made it look ubly.
