And I seriously doubt all incoming packages will be opened. US authorities have better things to do than checking small packages.

Yesterday they closed all shipping ports in Los Angeles (don't know about other ports) and Customs is hand inspecting every inch of every cargo ship coming from anywhere. Do you have any idea how long it takes to inspect one cargo ship, let alone every one coming into port? If they are being that cautious about cargo shipments, why would they be any less stringent with mail packages? My guess is that everything will be opened and searched for some time.

There's no way they can open every package received from every country. They'll probably have k-9 units smelling every package for explosives and sh*t like that, and maybe opening middle-east or suspicious packages, but to open everything? even to x-ray everything would take freakin' weeks for each day's worth of mail that comes into the US. And i'm sure flights will be starting back up over the next couple of days so they won't beable to handle the volume. IMO.

This is just for cargo ships, not the mail, but like I said, if they're searching the cargo ships by hand I'd think they'd increase security on the mail, too.
