Will adding pushups lead to overtraining?

I workout 3x a week. Every workout, I train my chest.

Day1: I do smith bench presses
Day2: Chest dips
Day3: smith bench presses

will adding pushups every other day lead to overtraining? I have bad chest genetics because there is a empty space between both my pecs. My pecs have okay mass but they look small compared to delts and that's why I want more mass.

Firstly, is there a reason you use the smith machine? Free weights are substantially better. Benching twice per week is a good idea IMO, but why not just do pushups the same day as bench? That would not likely lead to overtraining IMO.

I used to do pushups after my chest workouts, but stopped because I could only pump out about 12 before my chest just gave out. On non-chest days I'll sometimes do pushups, and get lots of reps and a pretty good burn. I'd say do pushups on off days, and if you find you can do a long set of them right after your current chest routine, you're not going heavy/hard enough on your main stuff like bench. Just my opinion.

Are u doing any inclines? If u want to build some mass, u gotta do inclines. I hit my chest 2x a week and i usually do inclines first, then flat. This will of course take away some strength for your flat press, but you'll start noticing some huge gains. Good luck.
