Widowmaker DL PR Thanks To The Metric System!

Every now and then I like to do a set of widowmaker DLs. The problem is, that I have a mental block at the weight I can use to do it. Normally it is right around the 395 mark.

Today, however, my training partner threw on a set of color coded metric plates for the warmups and the final set. I couldn't do the math fast enough to know what I was doing, I just went to work.

In the end, it ended up being roughly 435.

The point is, not only did I get the PR, I am now going to use metric plates every time (which is often) when i get a mind fuck. It keeps the number out of your head and you just do what you're supposed to do - all the training for form just kicks in and is automatic. You can worry about the number later.

PS: There is nothing delayed about the onset of the muscle soreness I have right now.

How many times did you pull it?

I did the typical high volume back workout yesterday and I am jacked. Not used to so much work at once

6 sets of Chins
5 sets of Pendlay rows
5 sets of Rack pulls from the knees
3 sets of Power shrugs
a few sets of hang cleans for the fuck of it
2 high rep sets of lat pull downs
3 sets of rear db raises
a few forearm exercise

So much DOMS

20 reps.

I only had enough left for 4 sets of seated cable rows. And those were all cheaters.

Not sure I could have pulled off your routine.

Nice pulling.

Yeah.

It wasn't so bad. It is definitely not the way I am used to training though. I didn't have a belt or straps so I didn't go too heavy on the racks or power shrugs. I was supposed to deload this week. I don't think tripling my volume is the right way to deload?

Yea.

Deloading should actually involve deloading.

But I think to sound cool you should call your method something like "the reverse deloading principle". Hell, write a book about it and make some money.

I used to a calf routine like this:
Seated Machine Calf Raise, using 20 rep weight rest pause to 75 reps
-rest 5 mins-
Standing Calf Raise on block, using about a 30-40 rep weight rest pause to 110 reps then drop the weight and rep with bodyweight to failure
-rest few mins-
Same as above but only rest pause to 55 reps then bodyweight to failure again

I've only done it twice though it takes too long for me to bother most times but the DOMS was so bad, 2nd and 3rd day I was literally in agony writhing around on the floor with someone trying to stretch them out for me so I could walk lol

That is a ton of weight to be deadlifting! uggg, what makes a widowmaker though? apologies, if it something I should know already.

Damn bro... Craziest thing i have done was 405 for 10 reps even though i had more in me. In Comp tho i have done 20+reps on the car DL but i dont know the EXACT weight and its not the same as a regular DL.

Yea, and in some comps you get to use a 2" smooth bar too.:confused:

I tried one of those once.

And only once.

oh christ done remind me. The most recent and heaviest car dl i did was with like a 2 or 2 1/4" SMOOTH and i mean fucking SMOOTH bar, even with straps people were having trouble hanging on to the fucking thing!
