widening your back and chest ???

Is this at all possible??

I am not gifted genticaly with a wide body. I am on the other hand really thick.

Im working on the lats, something i have really neglected before coming here.
 
I think the key is increasing weight on all of your compound movements:

bench press, inclines, military press, squats, deadlifts, and rows (among others)

AND

eating more.

i agree.

You will often see people do 35 sets of pulldowns in the belief it will make their lats wider. Just focus on the big exercises......weighted pull-ups and deadlifts are great all-round back builders
 
back in the '70s we did weighted dips for chest because we were told by the pros that dips were the only chest exercise that "widened" the chest.
