this is bullshit. i can not gain weight. i havn't gained a pound in over 3 months. what the hell is going on????
im 18 and only at 155pounds. im taking in 200-250 pounds protein a day, same with carbs. and i'm training correctly
anyone know what the problem is?

Are you doing any cardio....if so stop....if not then just keep adding calories until you start to gain weight....

You're not eating enough calories. 250X4=1000 protein calories. 250X4= 1000 carb calories. So that's only 2000 calories not including any fat so I would estimate you eat about 2500 cals a day. Try 3000.

what you need to do is eat 6 descent meals a day. for example-chicken with brn rice and vegatables. i would even take in one scoop of whey protien with each meal. so that would be an additional 20 grms of protein with each meal. even though people always say a body can only digest 30-40 grms of proten every few hours, i wuold still try to take at least 40-60 grms a meal. try geting up in the middle of the night at around 2 or 3 and drink 40 grams of protein and go back to sleep. thats a lot of food, but since your one of the gifted ones who doesnt gain weight easily, eat as much as you can.

And now for the most repeated mantra of dieting, albeit in a different form:

The only way to gain weight is to consume more calories than you burn. Period. Consume more calories and you will gain weight.

That said, you can also try to reduce your physical activity outside the gym. Don't bike, drive. Take the elevator instead of the stairs. Maybe even try to downsize your workouts. Train each body part once a week, to complete exhaustion, but not by doing like 20 sets for each body part. Try about 8 sets per body part. Keep the workouts grueling but under an hour and guzzle a protein/dextrose shake immediately after working out.

And if all else fails......juice.

You're right.
Flubber: DON'T TOUCH THAT SHIT! :D

Hehe, funny thread. So why are you called flubberboy.........

You're about the same weight as me (and I'm a female) and I DIET on close to what you've just said you're eating (dunno what your fat intake is). So EAT MORE. I also suggest you also look carefully at WHAT you're eating. Keep your veggie and whole grain intake lowish since both of these can inhibit nutrient absorption. Make sure you're getting enough essential fatty acids and overall fat, as well as adequate vitamins and minerals. Ummm, get plenty of rest and drink lots and lots of water.

if i could change the nickname.. i would. at the time i was obsessed with fat people.

is it possible that muscle on different people can weigh differently? cos although i am the same weight as my friends, my arms are like almost double the size of theres and i n lift a hell of a lot more. so obviously i have more muscle than them.

and guys dont give me the simplictics cos i already know them (just eat more blah blah)

yeh and i am on creatine

you sound like me around 8 months ago, i could not gain any weight and all i said is "i eat fine my body just wont gain any damn wieght"hahah, i was all wrong. it is impossible for you to not be able to gain weight if you rae doing it correctly, make sure your diet is correct. dont just try to get a certain amount of cals in each day, you never are getting nearly as much as you think unless ur eating 5 big macs a day. newayz, sit down and put together a plan for your diet, use at least 20 X bw in cals and i would do 50/30/20 carb/pro/fat.

I definitely agree you should get some liquid meals into ya. Try a home made N2 large, with whey, flaxseed oil or PB, skim milk and optional cocoa or chocolate flavor. A couple of these each day will round out what you're already eating quite nicely.

What ever you do, STAY AWAY FROM ANABOLICS!

I'd like to slap the guy who suggested dbol in this thread...
I'm another guy trying to gain weight, and doing ridiculous supplements/drugs is NOT the way to do it...
hell, I used some creatine, put on like 10lbs really quick, the second I got off it, I dropped it all w/ in 2 weeks...
Don't mention anabolics even in joking to people who are desperate to gain, b/c most of the time they'll take that route, and spend loads of money on crap that just isnt' going to work for them, and they'll do the same thing I did w/ creatine... gain then drop!
All I can say is, EAT!!!

My screansaver on my computer says 3 things...

"You should be working! You should be lifting! You should be eating!"

If I'm not doing one of those three things, then I'm wasting time!
Eating should always be on your mind!!! ALWAYS...

Thats the most funny thing I've heard on those boards:

im taking in 200-250 pounds protein a day

200-250 pounds of protein a day...

If you want to gain more pounds, follow this macronutrient list:

Calories=Bodyweight x 16-22kcals
Protein=Bodyweight x 1.0g
Carbs=Bodyweight x 2.5-3.5g
Fat=Bodyweight x 0.3-0.4g

Peace

yes umm i meant grams (not pounds).. thanks for pointing that out :P

In my opinion (as someone who went from 152-305 naturally), I would greatly increase your carbs. You should take in between 50-100 grams of carb in with EVERY meal. That should give you between 350-650 grams of carbs a day. Keep your protien about the same, but less would probably do.

Hey...I may get flamed for suggesting a high carb diet...but it really isn't. 250g pro, 500-600g carb...that is about right.

this looks good though i would make the protein bw X 1.5, and set carbs no less than bw X 3.0, when i did this it came out to be about 21 X bw in cals or soemthing like that, it was with 0.4 fat X bw also.

1) learn to eat by the clock 6x a day at least (never wait till your hungry)
2) learn to eat when your not hungry (see point 1)
3) learn to be lazy outside the gym
4) no cardio
5) learn to sleep a lot

good luck I used to be you and if all else fails wait 10 years and trust me you'll be asking how to lose the weight

If you are eating enough protein, increase carbs and fat until you start to gain weight. I recommend good clean carbs first, then fats if you have to.-WULF

protien - 320
carbs - 230
fat - 35

Don't overdo it with the carbs, You will just end up building fat.

Use most carbs in the day pre and post workout.

shouldnt carbs be more?
how does this look

protein 270g
carbs 400g
fat 60g

You just need to eat till you are totally stuffed...7 times a day. Eat a ton of food.

Eat like a horse, train like an animal, sleep like a baby.

thats not very good help
becos unless your eating what your suppose to be eating
you could be making a big mistake

you can increase carbs and fat but keep the protien the same ( 320 ). Protien is what builds muscle.

It is NOT bad advice...I grew a lot from that style of eating...a lot.

You can cut anytime...but you can't gain muscle anytime that you want to. Just EAT!!!

It only takes around 200-220 grams of extra of amino acids (800-900 calories worth of protein) to add a KILO of solid muscle. These protein calories need to be in excess to your maintenance requirements and in the right proportions and in the right place at the right time, but the bottom line is that glucose fuels the building of muscle above this 200-220 grams of protein. You need more carbs. Adding more protein to your diet will work, but it's an incredibly expensive and inefficient way to get glucose, especially if you're a "hard gainer". Just make sure you're eating a variety of protein sources, and getting your meals in 24/7 so the glucose AND protein will always be there when your muscles are ready to grow. And train like a maniac.

I went from 140-235 in the course of 4 years, and b fold is right on the money. You seriously need to increase your carb intake. My best suggestion is to get some big containers of rolled oats oatmeal (NOT THE FUCKING SUGAR SHIT) and eat that shit on a daily basis. I eat 6 cups a day of it, and it REALLY has helped me pack on weight. Each 1/2 cup is 150 calories and you will be getting 5 grams of protein as well. So if you consume 6 cups like I do, you are getting 1800 calories and 60 grams of protein solely from oatmeal. Plus, it is good shit, and I eat it plain.

Yep...I'll lift this way for a few days...but since I didn't grow yet...I'll stop.

Give it time. I guarantee if you trained and ate with me...you would be bigger.

5 days!!!

Need any more be said? You need patience. It won't happen over night, but it will happen ;).

Bodyweight fluctuates at incredibly rates, even daily. Depending on the times you weighed yourself, you might be under the wrong impression regarding what's happening to your body. Give it a month. You should be up anywhere between 3-8 pounds if you keep at it. 5 days is nothing. Its not even a whole week.
