why sore later?

we all know the soreness you get during a set when you're working out. i'm not talking about that. i'm talking about after you workout, go to sleep, and you wake up the next day really sore. how come there is a delay to feel that soreness? what happens?

Its called DOMS - delayed onset of muscular soreness - for a reason :)


cut out the negative part of every exercise and you should pretty much get rid of it. Its caused by micro tears in the muscles from stretching the muscle under tension. But its also what causes muscles to get bigger. Remove the negative from every exercise your wouldn't gain much size.
