Why only eat Egg whites?

I thought most of the protein was in the yolk? Whats the deal with body-builders only eating the whites? thx
 
eggs are a great source of protein....... egg whites are fat free and the yolks aren't....thats why people eat them. but eating whole eggs isn't as bad as people once thought.
 
I stopped buying eggs in a shell months ago. Now i get the ones in cartons. All the fat has already been taken out of 'em so its only egg whites. Is there a difference between this product and regular eggs with a shell?
 
How do you cook your eggs? Like egg whites only, do you like fry it or scramble it up? Also, how much does it matter with the amount of butter you use on the pan...?
 
I like to make an egg white omelet daily. Get a frying pan & heat it then spray liberally with cooking spray. Pour in the egg whites & let set then lift up the edges & pour the uncooked whites underneath by tipping the pan.

You can cover with a lid to get the center cooked more then top with cheese, salsa, veggies etc. I always make them the night before & leave them undercooked a little cuz I reheat in the microwave.

Also just scrambled is good too!!
 
Well, I make my own homemade salsa, but you can use any kind you like. I would try to find one that's as "natural" as possible with little to no chemicals & stuff.

Another thing about the yolk tho is that in addition to saturated fat it also has some of the healthy fats.

Per fitday.com 1 large egg yolk has 61 cals, 3g protein, 5g fat -- 2 sat, 1 poly & 2 mono.
 
Egg white = Protein

Egg Yolk = Fat, Protein, Carb, and a buttload of sulfur.



I only eat the whites so I can fart without my entire neighborhood getting gassed.
 
Machina, so the egg yolks are what cause the stinkiness of farts? and of course, cheers for egg whites. you gotto have your egg everyday! at least I do!
 
high cholesterol is in the yolks, and fat. Its best to eat one yolk, and a bunch of whites. That is unless your on a low carb, in which case its definitely best to eat like 3 wholes eggs. In my opinion eating whole eggs is so much tastier then the whites.
 
im on low carb. why would i eat as many yokes as whites?
thats horrible, with how many whites i eat i would die of a heart attack at the age of 21
and the yoke and white of 1 large egg each have 3 grams of protein- so i eat 6 whites and 2 yokes .5 cup of 1%cottege cheese and a bunch of cheese. its like 55grams of protien just for breakfast. and really low carb. if i want low fat i take out the cheese
 
egg whole=60+cal.
egg white=10+cal.
you can also make a huge sunny side up egg(1 whole egg,5 egg whites-130-150 calories)cooked with pam of course.
 
We eat the whole egg in our house. There are lots of vitamins as well as protein in the yolk, and we just can't see the sense in wasting good food like that. In Arnold's Encyclopedia of BBing, he calls the white-only thing a fad.
 
I like hookin up some 4 egg whites and 1 yolk with my protein shake or meal replacement shake. It give a really good protein kick,,,and it downs even taste bad. I've heard alot of the protein gets *bad* if you cook it or fry it.
 
The yolk has a lot of good fats. Also dietary cholesterol does not cause yours to rise as we have been told in the past. Eat the whole egg its much better for you. To answer your question novice body builders read something and think its the gospel forever.

Seyedflex, the raw egg thing is also a bit of a fad. What will be "bad" is if you get salmonella from eating the raw egg. You won't be getting to the gym much if you're having to spend the day on the toilet. :o
 
I just buy Egg Beaters, which is just the egg whites. Comes with 2 cartoons each qual to 4 large eggs. I cook both cartons with pam.
 
The easiest way for me to eat egg whites, is in egg drop soup. Bring 2 cups water to a boil and add chicken boullion for flavor. About 8 egg whites + 1 whole egg mixed together in a bowl. Add this mixture to the boiling boullion. Some variations, add chopped green onions, shredded chicken breast for more protein, or a drop of hot sauce. This recipe adds flavor to the bland egg whites, and really fills me up.

And how long ago did he say that?
 
I eat whole egg - right now about 8 whole jumbo yolk included divided up into 2 serv. (4 p/meal). Also with this 4-5 slices of bacon DAM GOOD - on a keto diet - but that is the real question - your individual protein requirements, fat, carbs = you daily calories if you fit a few whole eggs and a bunch more egg whites - more power to you...

I can't eat eggs. I retch whenever I put them in my mouth. This started a few years ago and the doc tells me I am probably allergic. Traditional breakfast foods are pretty heavy in carbs, although a few pancakes at the start of a very active day seems to be good. I have found myself eating roasted pork or other meat for breakfast since I cannot eat eggs.

In any case is there anything I might be missing besides a good source of protien here?

Could I just eat more fish (specifically albacore) instead?

If you're allergice to eggs, you might invest in a good protein powder to supplement for your protein (like zero carb Isopure), but real food is always better.

You might get some chicken breasts or tuna like you said, but chicken tastes better.

Oatmeal, yogurt and peanut butter also have decent amounts of protein if you dont have a strictly protein food.
 
I eat ALL whites..........get my fats from flax, peanut, olive oils and lean meats, by choice.............
 
I eat about 4 whole eggs and 2 egg whites for breakfast and later on in the day.

The yolk contains about HALF the protein in an egg, as well as all the vitamins and minerals. Sure it contains cholesterol and some saturated fat, but I make sure the rest of my diet if pretty clean to make up for it.
 
Frank Zane also swears by whole eggs. I remember reading an article by Lee Haney yrs ago where he called egg whites an incomplete protein. I'm no Zane or Haney, but I say a whole food is always better. The yolk does contain lecithin and other things that help emulsify the fat. For me, anyway, I always go w/ the whole egg, but i don't shovel them in like there's no tomorrow. In reasonable moderation, I think they're fine.

I don't eat the yolk and mine still stink man. Sucks for anyone that's near me ;)
