Why Join a Gym and ONLY TO DROP OUT

Meantime1

New member
Why do people waste their money joining a gym in the beginning of the year only to drop out after the 2nd of 3rd month,

I have never really understood that and then you are tied to a 12months contract,
For example i went to the gym last night and boy was it busy , i could not even move, come March, April, this same people would not be there

Why make all the effort to join in the first place, if u cant make that commitment to yourself, for yourself and have the killer body you have always wanted

I know it is hard, but hard work pays off,

Thoughts Pls

Same reason people poop on in the streets.

Okay, maybe its a different reason but there is something squishy involved in both answers.

same reason they order make money courses from infomercials and never read them,
seemed like a good idea at the time

too much work

They want to change, but lack the committment and determination to continue.

U ARE SOO RIGHT
it is a shame if only they have that inner strength, they would move mountains

because it's easier to not work out

maybe it's because people expect to be transformed overnight, and when that doesn't happen they lose their motivation

It's because if your not truly motivated its a useless cause.

People get big ideas and dreams of miracles after xmas.

don't pop their bubble.. just wait for it to pass

I use to workout for a while, then slack for months.

Now it's a daily thing for me and I actually look forward to working out each day.
The payoff during the summertime, or when a girl I am dating grabs and squeezes my arms makes it all worth it.

What many of us on this board would consider "becoming fit" is a monumental task for some people. It's become normal to us, but I'm sure we all can remember a time when it wasn't. Like most people I probably joined and quit several gyms before it became a lifestyle.

Gotta love them though. It's those people who contribute the most to gym maintenance.

Definitely. I joined this one gym and I could count the number of times I went to it on my fingers, and I had to pay out the whole year contract. Of course they had tennis courts too, so I think I just needed to find the right gym for me.. which I eventually did.

I'm sure any of us here over about 25 have skipped many, many months in the gym. It happens to us even after we've put tons of work into our body so what hope does Joe Blob have when his first muscle-pull kicks in at the same time as he's missing sleep due to putting in some overtime?

I remember when one of my friends asked me if I was now 'fit for life' and didn't really understand what he meant although I thought I did. It takes time before you realise that your mind and body need your workouts and it definitely takes more than remembering that you joined a gym last January too.

I guess also that for some people it never really becomes fun.

I think we forget how frustrating it can be to get back in there. I didn't go in for a few months until a couple of weeks ago and it is frustrating. I went through a divorce, work trouble, etc. and the stress can make you do destructive things to yourself. The second you decide to be strong and pull out of it, you want to be where you were before the shit hit the fan. Right now I'm weak as hell, sore as a muthafucka, and pissed at myself for letting myself go. I'm loving it though. Just imagine someone who may have been in great shape 5-10 years ago, had a couple of kids, hours more responsibility along with them and just realized they're 45 with a waist to match. They just need encouragement instead of being made fun of, which is what I see a lot of. If they can start to see results that are hard to come by at that age i.e. having to get their pants taken in, wife wants to have sex, etc. they'll keep with it.

1. Now it's a daily thing for me and I actually look forward to working out each day.

2. when a girl I am dating

Part one: I believe George Bush wrote.

Part two: A better example of an oxymoron.

;)
