why is PF's IsoChill Whey Isolate cheaper than the other two isolates?

I mean, you only get 1 gram of protein less per serving, but it is $2-$3 cheaper.

Can someone shed some light on this?

Probably superior buying power.
They are a huge comapny now, they get a better price per kilo when they order 5,000 kilos than when smaller companies order 500 kilos.

The only two things I buy from them are IsoChill Whey and a mix of 40% egg white, 40% Mil. Caes., 20% whey concentrate.

The Iso is for postwork out, but I have been thinking of switching to a mix of CFM whey isolate 70% and 30% Hydro. whey to see if I could get a faster uptake.

The other mix is for bedtime.

its a lower grade isolate protein. Its still a decent isolate. It has nothing to do with buying power, there are few discounts above the pallet quantity- even then they are small 5-10%.

Can you go over the differences? What can justify spending an extra $3 to get just ONE gram of protein extra per scoop?

miscibility.

protein fractions.

Biological fractions.

lactose content.

protein degradation.. during process. Protein content is technically similar, quality is not.

though justification will depend on the individual.. its about a 35% price difference with a 5-10% protein difference (with the above issues as well).. how important those are to you will vary on response. some people may notice little difference, others a lot.

as a note there are lots of proteins that are MUCH cheaper/lb.

btw- IMHO isochill is certainly a decent whey protein isolate, its not the best.

What do you think of combining 80% whey isolate and 20% hydro. whey for a post workout shake?
