I’m finally going to hand in my application form to try to get into the force. One of the questions was “Why do you wish to become a Police Officer”. Below is what I have written up and I was hoping you could tell me if it is appropriate. Also if there are any changes you would suggest or additional information I could add. Thanks a lot… btw im 18/m
Being in the academy is something I’ve considered wanting to be involved in for years and gradually over time to the present it has become one of my top priorities and is one of the things I most want to do. I’ve looked into other similar jobs, such as criminology or forensics, but from talking to other officers and workers in those fields, this appeals to me most.
Like I said before, I’ve talked to many officers to see from first hand experience what it’s like and what’s involved and it is something I know I would really enjoy doing. As we know, “A happy worker is a good worker”.
As preparation I’ve been going to the gym for the past year improving my strength and fitness. I’ve started learning the martial art of Aikido “The Art of Peace” and I’ve got the required first aid certificate. Although I’m only on my provisional drivers license I do drive around as much as I can, to improve my driving skills. I have not broken the law before and have a clean record.
Even if I don’t get into the force this time I will keep all this up and try again in the near future. So it isn’t something I will give up on straight away, this is pretty much my dream job and is what I want to do as my career.
