Why havent they pulled Johnson????

mdd

New member
i would of pulled him in the 3rd / 4th inning and saved him for relief in game 7 if needed

well, you have more baseball knowledge than me, so you know it, i only played thru highschool,.... but i still would of saved him arm as best i could, the yanks cant touch him

totally agree with you mdd, + Karma to you for a good observation.

oh fuck he we go again. I am sure your brother told you that Randy can come back after taking his starting prep, the bullpen session on his 2 nd day after starting, his 20 - 25 minute pregame bullpen, then throwing 60 pitches or so right.

But he is a power pitcher..... will he be throwing harder tomorrow with less movement or slower with less movement, or harder with more movement or slower with more movement.

I predict if Johnson pitches tonight he is going to fuck his arm up.....maybe not bad and maybe he won't know for a few weeks but somewhere down the line if he pitches tonight it is going to cost him. Not a fact and opinion.

BTW Tim McCarver needs to just shut up every once in a while. He was saying that NO WAY would I pull Johnson...... then 2 innings later he is saying just the opposite. Idiots out there doing Fox's Vitual Manager Bull SHIT Poll are hilarious. I am waiting for thim to ask...... should Finley adjust his cup 20 or 21 times this at bat?

Guys, did I miss something here?

Didn't Johnson do THE EXACT SAME THING to the yankees in 1995 when he was with Seattle?

His arm has seemed to hold up allright since then...

And no, my brother didn't tell me this, this is my opinion.

McCarver is a COMPLETE, idiot. He was a pitcher too, no?

well, IF Randy comes out I wouldn't put him unless they're closer/long releif get's into trouble.........and I think they will because I don't see Schilling going that many inning tonight. I honestly think something very bad is going to happen to schilling tonight. Unless the Dbacks have had schilling on 100mg suspension every day since game 1, I don't see his arm being ready to throw more than 3 innings. Schilling has AMAZING stuff, but it's all based off his power. Without the power his breaking stuff is not as good. We'll see though, he might come out and blank the yanks.........who knows??

You are correct sir. I was at that game. Johnson also said in the PC last night that he'd be up for pitching relief tonight if needed.

Thank you for your support, GT.

Maybe I should nominate YOU as honorary president of ECHWAM....

110% bump to you BPB, but it's only gonna make a difference if someone in the Yankee lineup decides to take a few pitches and hit their weight.
Oh yes, that and for Atrocious to stop botching routine DP balls.

Thanks bd, but I don't quite fit your requirements. I've gone back and fourth with a few of you. Received good and bad karma from you crazy kids. Think I'll remain a free agent. :)

damn doc.......you yankee fans are a hard bunch you know that?? The guy hit's the game winning two run homer the night before and you guys will still rank him because he got the ball out of his glove 1/1000 of a second to late to throw out the runner. THe way the dbacks were hitting (or how bad pettite was pitching, take your pick) last night, that DP would just have saved a run or two from the final outcome.

Yes you missed something...... yes he did come back in relief in 95 but it was not the day after he started it was on his bullpen day, 2 days after his start. Virtually every pitcher throws a 20 - 30 minute bullpen session 2 days after their start. Not opinion.... FACT

McCarver was a catcher not a pitcher, althought he did play some outfield and both corners at the end of his career. Also a FACT.

Thank you for that explanation RD.
Much more straightforward, easy to understand, and indisputable without the insults.

BPB: that's what I meant by we're the toughest fans. But it wasn't 1/1000th of a second, it was more like a full second and a bad throw and it was the second time that he did the same double clutch/straightarm throw that subsequently cost the Yanks 3-4 runs (previously in game 2, also with Pettite pitching).

Although Pettite left his game in NY, that play certainly might have been a turning point in the game. The Yankees did appear to be hitting the ball and I believe Johnson threw like 25 pitches in the 3rd inning. It was 1-0 at that point and Pettite had gotten out of one tough jam and it looked like he would slip out of another. I personally did not like the idea of walking the #8 hitter, the catcher with 1 out because although you get the force at home, that virtually guaranteed Womack coming up and he had been making contact and had a double in his first at bat. The missed DP sort of took the wind out of their sails- 1 run against Johnson and some lucky slob like Atrocious can hit a dinger, 4 is almost insurmountable. I was surprised that Torre took out Pettite at 4-0 but I think he might have also felt the Yanks were hitting the ball and might even have a chance with a 4-run deficit. Unfortunately, Witasek thought Torre said "go out there and pitch some BP" instead of "go out there and get a DP". Just my Sunday-morning assesment. The rest is history.

As a Yankee fan, I must say I really haven't seen anything that would make me hold my head up with pride even if they manage a miracle win tonite. They really do not deserve to win this. Arizona is a distant second in teams that don't deserve to win.

Would I be going out on a limb here, but does anyone truly believe the 2 best teams are in the World Series this year? It has been painful to watch from any perspective.

May the least bad team win this evening. At least the Yankee fans will call the spade a spade, even if they win.

It might be a good idea to go back to the post where the insults started flying and see where the first one came from. And I do most of mine on fact. Kinda like the Gerald Williams vs. Randy Johnson facts.....now Randy Velarde...... whole different story.
