I know this question has been asked a million times before, but my search for "carb up day diet" returns a 404 error.

I'm on the third week of Keto right now, and just wanted to know if I should carb up sometime soon. I heard good and bad things about it. Some people say you will be thrown out of ketosis for a couple of days because your liver will be glucosed up, and other people say that you need it for muscle fullness or something?? Help me on this please. :)

yup.........

u will be out of ketosis, but that's not a problem as u can quickly return within a day or so with ancillaries like ala, vanadyl sulfate, and exercise.

Carb ups, in my opinion, are needed to keep muscle and muscle size. As well, your metabolism will slow (BMR) in the absence of carbs for long periods of time. U need to avoid this by carbing up at least one full day out of the week on a full ketogenic diet.

Interestingly, if u are a bodybuilder or looking to gain some shape, a CKD may not be what you wish to do. U may want to look into a TKD, or something similar.

So it is needed pretty much just to boost your metabolism when it slows down too much, huh? that makes sense. Isn't once a week kind of often, though? Does your metabolism slows down that much in one week? Especially if I'm taking xenadrine on keto?

usually ckd then tkd

if your goal is to gain muscle but you want to drop fat first
you use a ckd, with a ckd you will drop fat while preserving your muscle, when you reach the desired body fat percentage from ckd'ing, you can switch to a tkd which will allow you to grow your muscles without adding body fat, so it works out pretty nicely.

without the carb-up on a ckd your metabolism is gradually slowing down until coming to a complete stop ( hey your body thinks it is starving so it's holdin' on to your fat for dear life ) when you carb-up ( besides the psychological effects of enjoying 'forbidden foods' ) you are giving your body the green light to let go of the damn body fat it's holding onto

You can even lose faster the fat if you do carb ups. This is related with leptin. Make a search on leptin and refeeds.
Take a look here , read the articles by Pardeus in www.avantlabs.com here

Refill leptin levels which are crucial for contineous fat-loss, stabilize to normal T4-T3 conversion, which make the thyroid work at the normal and not lazy phase. Increase ANABOLISM (muscle glycogen) to increase muscle mass.

tooooo many positives

P.S. you'll be out of ketosis for 24-36 hrs if you get the workout/cardio right

can you carb up every 10-14 days instead of every 7 days?

Yes, but probably not as efficiently as weekly carb-ups. All depends on the goals and constrains of the person. (genetics come into play here).

well for optimal fatloss wouldnt it be better to stay in ketosis longer? i did as you suggested and took two carb up days. i got bloated by the second day but most of the bloat did go away the following day. i did notice that i lost a few cm off my waist just by doing those two carb ups but i looked smooth. guess thats just extra water. anyway, going back to what i said- wouldnt fatloss come faster the longer we are in ketosis?

This is the concept that is the hardest for people to understand: THE METABOLIC RATE DRASTICALLY SLOWS DOWN IF THERE IS NO FREQUENT CARB-UPS; THUS, FAT-LOSS WILL DISCONTINUE AFTER A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF TIME. It's a given fact that low leptin levels and very little T4-T3 conversion (highly prominent w/ ketosis) will ultimately yield nonexistant fat-loss if not corrected. That is why frequent (every 5-6 day) carb-ups are needed.

i see. im sure you've said this before many times. i just didnt think that your metabolism would slow down in one week. thanks for taking the time to respond. one carb-up day a week it is.
