Why everyone cant be a pro?

Very interesting. Lucky sonuvabitch! Kinda ironic though he didn't end up being too healthy also because of genetics. That's how shit works I guess.

How ironic, his genes were both a blessing and a curse.

i wonder if one day -- as a result of genetic engineering -- someone could say: "i'll have the flex model." with enough money of course. that was an interesting read.

If everyone could be a pro there'd be nobody in the audience.

I think capability-wise, that day is already here. And yeah, if someone with unlimited cash paid off the right people, it could be happening right now. 10 more years and it will be mainstream.

Did anyone notice that these people (Balco, Conte) are the ones behind the previously undetectable steroid that many Olympic athletes took?

Seems like some of the biggest genetic freaks that we dream to be like have health problems because of it. Another example being Arnold with his heart. (unless that was totally from crazy roid usage)

I dont know that they have any higher incidence of these type of things than the general population. I have a uncle that had a kidney transplant and several people in my family have had heart problems. Its just the more popular and famous you get, the more little details about your life that leak out.

Though, I do agree that the current crop of mass monsters may be in for it down the road, but I dont think that it will be due to genetic defects.

well what i can envision with genetic engineering is docs modifying our DNA to match that of a Flex Wheeler, but after that, we'd still have to get in the gym and make it happen. we'd just respond to, and recover from the training as his body would. would we have the mental/psychological makeup to push ourselves through the workouts as he does? i don't know, but i could respect that because the training is still invaluable to their gains. but i could not respect inject-a-mucles, on the other hand.

I agree with you Juicepimp that in 10 years it will mainstream, but I still think the cost will be very high and only affordable by relatively few. I think the cost would rival plastic surgery and the like, and maybe even a little more.

I'm gonna have to disagree...I'm sure there are a lot of people with the genetics to turn pro but lack the intelligence and/or discipline and/or opportunity to take advantage. Kind of frustrating to all those that have the latter and are lacking in the genetics department.
