I dont think its the subjects themselves but the hostility in which they are discussed. Im willing to discuss anything, no matter how controversial but when the conversation turns into personal attacks on one another, then its time to stop talking. I see two opposing sides of the spectrun represented with absolutely no middle ground opinion and that often indicates an over simplification of issues. A lot of issues are not black in white but grey. Race is a very important issue and needs to be discussed.

but isn't that the crux of the whole issue? that there is no hard definition of "hateful language"?

whenever someone dares to question the official PC line or a discussion looks to be heading to an uncomfortable conclusion, those on the losing end need only scream "hate!" and any argument after that is automatically prohibited, no questions asked.

One cannot defend a non-PC position, for any reason, without also being a "racist" "or a "sexist," and, by definition, therefore being less worthy of respect and consideration -- after all, that is the point of PC: to stop debate. If you can't beat 'em, silence 'em.

as to why the mods/censors are constantly tripping over themselves to quash debate -- I can't say I blame them. There is no upside for them to allow such discussion: no one can be criticized for siding with PC, no matter how morally cowardly it may be, and there is a greater likelihood of mods retaining their petty censor power if they follow PC than if they don't.
