Why does AAS cause insomnia?

pda321

New member
Actually, I don't know if it does for everyone, but I'm running Test E and TBol right now and can't sleep till like 3AM. I just lay there. what's up--is the hormonal imbalance caused by high test or androgen lvls cause some other "sleep hormone" like melatonin or something to get fucked up? why can't i sleep guys?

Ever since Ive been doing aas I have never slept a full 8 hours again.I wake up everysingle night after sleeping for about 3hours,get out of bed and go have something to eat then hit the hay again

i need to take up to 21 mg of lunesta or 70 mg of ambien EVERY night just to get sleep. and thats like 6 hours. i just hate it when guys say "i lay awake til 3 am." if i wasnt on the shit im on i wouldnt sleep for 2 weeks straight before id start getting even 4 hours a night again. i guess it just pisses me off that the last thread i read about insomnia on here the guy was compliaing about only getting 6 hours of sleep. 6 hours for me would be a godsend.

it really reminds me of going through puberty all over again. the night sweats, the high temperature, the heart beating, racing thoughts. CNS stimulation makes sense, but can we alobarate this further...

70 mg!! Wow. I took 20 once when i got home form work at 5:00(thought it was nother of my scripts) o'course I didn't want to go to bed, stayed up. You see some weird shit on ambien when ou stay up on it........

This post suprised me as when I was on my test eq cycle a few months ago and was so tired all the time, I had a ton of people say they related to how tired they are when on, especially test. I slept for 10 solid deep hours every night and still needed a nap a lot of the times.

I have not used Tbol but I didn't think it would cause this issue. If there is a trend in tbol users not getting much sleep maybe this is new info?

Regardless, sorry to hear you can't sleep man it does suck. I have resorted to flexaril in the past when I couldn't sleep but it is a muscle relaxer. At 25 milligrams, I seriously about crapped my pants in the middle of the night I was so relaxed.

Amen, brother! I have every sleeping pill you can think of in my cabinet... lunesta is the newest and strongest I have... but, like all the rest, my body is starting to get used to it and I'm lucky if I get 6 hours of sleep!

Deca and/or Test E definitely keep me up at night

70 mg of ambien?????

i guess there's a fine line between a quality nights sleep and overdose.

I refuse to take anything more than melatonin to sleep. If rather get no sleep than to add another medicine cabinet full of drugs to combat my loss of sleep from my cabinet full of roids.

i'm in the same camp brotha. drug-induced sleep leaves me feeling tired the next day so i might as well stay up and be productive. even melatonin at higher than a mg or two seems to have some sort of lingering effect, though this might be placebo.

same bro...i slept probably 10 hours a night and when i got back from the gym i took 2 hour naps...

pda, how late in the afternoon/evening are you taking your OT, i know when i used to use dbol, if i took it in the afternoon/early evening it was hard to get to sleep, i started taking it all at once around lunchtime and then the sleep came a lot easier..

Tren messed me up real bad. It was 6AM when I fell asleep everynight if I didn't take klonopin. Which by the way made me feel like an absolute zombie the next day.

Both Klonopin and Valium give that kind of hangover/drowsy effect. I haven't had that problem with Xanax or Ambien, though.

CNS stimulation?

Absolutely. I haven't read the rest of the thread yet but from what I've read and experienced it stimulates your CNS.

Primobolan is supposed to be one of the most non CNS stimultating AASs if it is a big problem for someone.

i love benzos. klonopin gives me the most restful best sleep ever and carries the relaxation on into the day, and because i dont lift til evening its great i feel all outgoing and shit but its hell to get addicted to. last nite i took some lunesta and actually got about 8 hours but all day felt exhausted and shitty. fuckin why is that? on medical websites it says lunesta doesnt fuck with REM and you still go through all the sleep cycles. i think thats bullshit.

yeah you do! man i beat the shit out of a roll of paper towels because i thought a clown broke into my apt and then when i thought i killed it i got freaked out and thought the cops would find out i killed the elusive clown. but it was fuckin paper towels.

Out of the benzos, Valium has the longest half life, around 20 hours, and Clonazepam is 2nd at about 12 hours. Xanax has one of the shortest.
This might explain the difference in the "hangover" feeling.

Tren has kept me up. My first cycle I had it REAL BAD. I was on D-bol/Deca and was lucky to get like 3-4 hours some nights. It went away after my first cycle though, with exception of my last run with Tren.

you still get good gains off that little sleep? i remember i was doin a 50mg dbol only cycle over the summer and gettin like the same amount of sleep and i gained a ton. im on test now and gaining pretty good and only gettin 5-6 hours. most people that lift tell me to get a minimum of like 15. christ id love that. cutler gets like 30 hours a day. i dont even think he lifts. he sleeps and has IVs that shoot protein and creatine in him all day and night.

Good to point out the half-life issue, I think that is deffinatly important.... but the half life of valium (diazepam) is actually up to 100 hours in some people....
check it out : http://web4health.info/en/answers/bio-benzo-overview.htm

"Benzodiazepines also differ markedly in the speed at which they are metabolised (in the liver) and eliminated from the body (in the urine). For example, the "half-life" (time taken for the blood concentration to fall to half its initial value after a single dose) for triazolam (Halcion) is only 2-5 hours, while the half-life of diazepam is 20-100 hours, and that of an active metabolite of diazepam (desmethyldiazepam) is 36-200 hours. This means that half the active products of diazepam are still in the bloodstream up to 200 hours after a single dose. Clearly, with repeated daily dosing accumulation occurs and high concentrations can build up in the body (mainly in fatty tissues). There is a considerable variation between individuals in the rate at which they metabolise benzodiazepines."

yeah if you think of the possibility that 200 hours later you MAY have half the active metabolite active in your system and by then you have probably taken at least 5 more doses..... it makes alot of sense how you can get all zombied out and shit.... you could utilize a "loading dose" of diazepam and then lower nightly doses to achieve desired effect with a minimum of side effects.........

just some ideas , im not a doctor so dont take my advice, do your research bros!
