why do people like cats?

I am taking care of a friends cat right now and I just don't get it. They don't do anything cool, they just lay around and every now and then find something to bat around. Whenever I come home she always trys to rub on my leg as she walks circles around me. I'm not here territory I don't want her to mark me. What is it that makes a cat lover?

Cats are like Goldfish IMO..

Mostly about being a bit of company, so you aren't totally alone.
Occasionally entertaining.
Easy to take care of

So why do you like a pest? Either they are sleeping or in the way. Dogs are easy because if you want them around you call them or if you don't you make them go away.

my kitty was 9 months when i got her took her about 3 days to get used to us and come around....couldnt get a kitten because i have kids and it would prolly get stepped on...but for 9 months she did really well

They also don't poop everywhere or jump all over you with muddy feet and drool all over the place.

I got an awesome bengalcat. She even playes fetch with a crumbled up ball of paper. She does demand a lot of petting though
