Why Do People Buy Bottled Water?

Your right...most bottled water comes from city taps. The Same taps that delivery water through the basic distribution system any given residence.

The only water I buy is the 1 Gallon of Crystal Geyser with a handle, it's easy to take around plus it helps make sure I take in around a gallon a day. It's only one dollar so not it's not a huge waste of money.

It's more convenient than lapping from puddles or drinking from a men's room faucet. I don't see too many taps when I am walking around the city on a hot day.

There are no health guidelines to follow regarding bottled water. At least not here in Canada. We have been told that the odds are, our tap water is cleaner than the bottled water people purchase from the store. Go figure.

I used to always drink from the tap, but the water in Atlanta has gotten pretty shitty, especially in my part of town. Giarardia was found a couple of times this summer.

So I don't mind shelling out $ for cheap distilled H20.

The tap water is so bad in Barcelona (taste) you really have to buy drinking water.

In RUssia it's just too polluted.

Well back in my day, we didn't have bottled water -- we had sheepskin flasks, and they leaked; and if you wanted to lug water around you had walk the plains to a waterhole, suck it through a 1 cm diameter straw and regurgitate it into a flask. We were happy to lick water out of leaves after a rainfall -- coming across a rusty can with some water in it in a field was like Christmas.

Bahhh... you kids today with your berry-flavored fitness water...

There is a difference in "bottled water" and "spring water." Bottled water comes from a municpal water source and is not much (if any) better than tap water. Spring water actually comes from the ground, usually from an alpine source. This water is full of minerals, and has not been treated by the city water program.

Our tap water has so many chemicals in it that some people just like to avoid drinking it. Spring water, on the other hand, is from the earth, pure and simple.

I grew up in NYC and no other water is better. I moved to FL and the water here is horrible. We drink bottled water upstairs at home and we bring one with us in the car and to work, a britta filtered water pitcher is in the fridge and another britta filter on the kitchen sink for cooking. I even buy our ice at the supermarket...when the tap water ice melts here you can see white things (lime I guess) floating in your drink. It's just gross here!
