As soon as someone figures out how to squeeze 200hp and decent low-end torque out of a hydrogen engine, I'll be all over it. Until then tho, I'm just going to bend over at the gas station like everyone else and take it.
Exactly. I laugh when people talk about tax cuts. There is no such thing. They give you a federal tax cut and then they raise various administrative fees to compensate or raise tolls or raise whatever. Hilarious reading all the posturing before the last election over who would raise taxes and who would cut them.
Will the current gas prices have ANY effect on your driving? Will you slow down? Will you cancel a trip? Will you start a carpool?
The alternative fuel issue will not gain any momentum until we are significantly affected by the $ of gas. As it stands right now (premium = 2.50/gal) it won't change a thing for me, except I will pay a little more...

I've curtailed the amount I drive for several years now. The current prices are ridiculous but they've been that way for quite a while. The latest car my wife and I purchased was a small, fuel efficient one. We make sure we drive closer to the speed limit and keep the tires at the proper pressure.
No offence to anyone but people who do nothing and drive enormous vehicles that get 2 miles a gallon when they have zero need for them drive me insane.
Alternative fuel will gain momentum when we make it an issue. Very few people are doing so which is why our governments do nothing. Plus they love the gas taxes. I've been writing my elected representative for years asking him to become a voice in government for fuel alternatives.

It has. i wanted to go see Twisted Sister in Las Vegas this weekend -- but the cost of a 4 hour drive is kinda prohibitive, when added in with all the other costs (hotel, tickets, food, hot blondes sitting in your lap).
